Better Version of Cuir Beluga
What can I say: I love this scent! I have about 50 fragrances in my collection and this is my top favorite date night fragrance!

I bought Cuir Belga without ever having tested Cuir Beluga. Immediately, I fell in love with the scent of Volaré. Of course, I was curious and have since sniffed the original several times.

Volaré's interpretation is exactly what I wished the original would be. The original is soft and disappears somewhere on the skin. On paper, I had to actively search for it.

Volaré's version is warmer, more intense, and just present enough to leave a trace without being intrusive. Not loud, not pushy. But it lingers.

This is not a fragrance that unfolds slowly. It is there immediately. I get the feeling right away: this is expensive, this is special, this is not everyday.
It doesn’t start soft or powdery. It hits you directly.

Warm, dense, slightly leathery, with this creamy depth in the background. But all at once, not one after the other. Like a finished painting, not like a buildup.

And that’s exactly what makes it so special: it feels SOPHISTICATED from the very first moment. So not just elegant, but thoughtful, high-quality, with presence.

This fragrance is sexy, but in a physical, almost immediate way.

Not playful.
Not flirty.

But rather like this:
It has something that gets under your skin, without going through the head. Something that not only smells good but resonates in the body.

That brief feeling of “what is that right now?”
this slight tipping over, an almost pleasurable overwhelm… that’s not a coincidence.
It’s this mix of warmth, depth, and that slightly animalistic leathery note, which is not loud but instinctively impactful.

This fragrance is not “I want to please.”
But: I have an effect, whether you like it or not.

The scent is not just attractive. It is sophisticatedly magnetic and pulls you right into its spell.

The White Horse
I will hold back on giving a concrete numerical rating, as Cuir Belga remains somewhat indefinable for me.
With some fragrances, you know immediately: "I like this" or "Ugh." With this one, it's not so simple. If I knew the original, I could at least say whether it is a good or bad dupe, but currently, I have to judge it blindly.
Like many dupe fragrances, Cuir Belga needs about 10 minutes to unfold. When I smell from the sprayer, I think more of a feminine scent.

The opening is sweet and somewhat synthetic, or perhaps it is the straw flower. Because just as this flower looks, it also initially smells.
Even though I am not a fan of "floral" descriptions, it fits well here to say that the powder is nestled on leather. The leather remains subtle and in the background, supporting the fragrance so that it doesn't drift too much into the feminine. The vanilla certainly plays its part and makes it pleasant & rounded. In the drydown, Cuir Belga reaches its best phase when the slightly sweet powder settles and beautifully integrates into the soft suede. This combination is simply delicious for me. Vanilla must play a crucial role here. Suede also fits in that it is noticeably soft & gentle, just like the supple texture of the Blue Suede Shoes.

This is not a fragrance that radiates. It is a tame companion, despite the wild leather.
So rather a close-to-skin candidate, but when I look at the values of the original, it seems to behave similarly.

The bottle is beautiful; it would be better if the orange label were also straight on the front. The sprayer is also really good, as is often the case with our Arab fragrance friends. For €20, it's a bang for the buck, as they say.

Now I realize: while I was writing this, I have come to understand that I really like Cuir Belga. I still don't know if I will ultimately keep it.
In conclusion, thank you for reading and...
you must know!

Sometimes it takes a little...
Here it came, leaning on Cuir Béluga Eau de Parfum. Highly praised, now in my hand.
And my first thought was "ugh" leather and patchouli overwhelmed me. Where is that pretty vanilla everyone is talking about? I was already asked if I was talking about a different fragrance.
But fine, I stuffed it back into its packaging, off to the closet.
However, it wouldn’t let me rest, so I tested it again the next day. Aha, look at that. It smells much more pleasant. And by the third test, it was love. The piercing notes had vanished. A powdery, beautiful vanilla scent with a subtle leather note emerged.
In the opening, I can smell the mandarin, not like in fragrances such as Musk Therapy Extrait de Parfum or Signature Eau de Parfum. Drier, powdery.
The vanilla comes right in and envelops everything. The suede gives off just a hint, as does the patchouli.
Oh God, how could I have waited so long for you? The first time I tested it was a few years ago, maybe I was too young? I didn’t like it then either.
Now this beautiful warm scent envelops me. It's love at first, though not immediately.

I do not like this. It's not a bad smelling scent but something about it just bothers me in the drydown, there's a weird sharp note there.

I can hardly tell any difference from the original. A tiny bit sweeter, leathery, fine, and cuddly soft. I'm impressed!

The scent is very beautiful and I like it in DD, unfortunately it just doesn't last as well as the others from the line but I want to test the OG now.

Oh yes, it comes quite close to the OG. Warm vanilla on soft leather. Powdery tickling and super cozy. A bit sweeter than the OG.
