Deep and round, like a very good red wine
I received Velvet Amber Sun from my husband for Christmas last winter. We actually wanted to buy Tobacco Vanilla by Tom Ford, but that evening Velvet Amber Sun won.
It was a tough race, but when I spray it on and it forms a symbiosis with my skin, it brings a sense of security. It’s like a good red wine, sensual, deep, pure enjoyment, and loving. When I spray this fragrance, I feel enveloped even on bad days, calm and content.
I am usually very extravagant with my perfumes, but I treasure this one like a sacred treasure. In my usage, it is not a scent for every day but special, for beautiful evenings, cozy and sensual.
The amber is very dominant at first but adapts wonderfully after a short time, is cuddly, never intrusive, but deep and impressively a long-lasting delight for the senses.
Jeez - what a mushy description, but that’s how it is, opulent and sentimental.

My Summer Hit
I just read the comments here and was briefly confused... everyone was talking about apricots. Oops. For me, it’s grapefruit from start to finish. Beloved and refreshing grapefruit, which then... eventually gives way to oriental notes.

In my association, in my feeling, the scent is a bit Paris. A bit of art. A bit of freedom.

I love this fragrance very much despite its intensity in summer. Or rather because of its intensity. I need to think about that again. The fact is, this is my all-time favorite for hot summer days and nights.

The only thing I don’t like is the bottle. I hated it already with Gardenia. It’s huge and heavy, impractical to carry, a block on the leg. I solved this for myself by buying the refill bottle and a small cute bottle to go with it. This way I can now enjoy my fragrance on the go and during summer travels. For me, the perfect solution.

Erotic.
Actually... well, I don't really like sweet scents that much. At least not floral sweet; oriental sweet is more my style. When I set out to treat myself to a new fragrance, I was leaning more towards "Hermes Absolut" or something summery in that direction.

And then the perfume consultant came and asked if I wanted to try something completely different...

I am really thrilled. It is floral, erotic, sweet, a little bit honey-like - but not too much. I feel incredibly feminine and attractive with this scent; it's crazy.

It doesn't last that long, and when I spray it on in the morning, I reapply in the afternoon, but that's okay. I can't imagine it on very young girls; for me, it embodies a woman between 30-50 years old.

Love.
This fragrance means love to me.

When I spray it on, it starts off a bit fresher thanks to the tobacco plant, and with each passing minute, it becomes softer, warmer, embraces me, and I feel safe and secure.

A typical winter scent. However, I wear it for all occasions. But when I close my eyes and think about it, I see myself cuddled up on the sofa with my husband, enjoying a cozy cup of tea.

Terrible.
I am a dedicated Tom Ford fan. I own a lot of his fragrance treasures, and my husband does too now. Too loud, too intense, too woody, too vanillic, too floral, too extravagant does not exist in our collection - or so I thought.

Well - until I smelled Orchid Soleil. It reminds me of fermented sunscreen, harsh, evil, and rancid. For me, this fragrance is neither oriental, nor erotic, nor pleasant!

In my desperation, I even sprayed it on my hand because I thought it would develop - just like I know from other TF treasures, a grave mistake! It is and remains a bitterly wicked witch.

Almost, but only almost, I am a bit speechless at how terrible I find this creation.
