I took part in a sharing a year ago because I wanted to get closer to the perfume house Zoologist and the composition of this fragrance had the potential not to scare me away immediately.
Initially, I liked the scent. Okay. The sweet carrot cake immediately made me realize that this house can do gourmand. Although the fragrance is not badly made, I couldn't really identify with it.
As the day progressed, I caught myself smelling it on my wrist over and over and over again. I couldn't describe it, but something wouldn't really let me go. In the days that followed, I had to use my sample again and again because I just couldn't leave the little bunny alone. It slowly developed into my feel-good fragrance: hay and carrots, which reminded me of a late summer's day, combined with cinnamon and vanilla - well, I must have fallen in love.
In the meantime, a bottle has moved into my home and my opinion hasn't changed even after a year. This fragrance is special - artistic, but wearable. Gourmand lovers will have fun with it. I simply cannot imagine life without this fragrance.
It stays on me all day long without overwhelming me or the people around me.

I tried it and couldn't stop smelling my wrists - unfortunately just for an hour until the scent was completely gone.

The opening is a beautiful orange candy, which is super refreshing and sweet manoeuvring me straight to a beach day in my childhood. Unfortunately, this memory just lasts an hour until it's gone. Sillage and longevity are so bad. During the dry down you can smell a slight hint of florals while the orange stays in the spotlight. This makes the scent very creamy and takes a bit of sweetness away. I think it has great potential, but it gives me more body spray vibes than perfume.

I enjoyed my popsicle at a hot summer day but unfortunately it is gone before it even really started.

I am usually not a gatekeeper, but damn, I don't want anyone to know about you. You are a photorealistic Caribic vacation scent. I can smell my expensive sunscreen while drinking my rum next to those stunning fruit baskets filled with ripe pineapple and papaya. Your coconut milk stays during the entire day and you layer around me making me feel so relaxed and longing for my next tropical vacation. You are super creamy, not too sweet, leaning towards gourmand without being too offensive. You smell to elevated and I get nothing but compliments while wearing you. You for sure will stay!

I got this as a gift and especially as a fragrance collector this clearly is a No. This is a waste of money. I can't pick any proper note, there is no longevity nor sillage or projection. I would give this to a teenager who is just getting into fragrances and changes their mind every other minute. Well, actually, Id probably still prefer samples over this one. I don't know, it's not even mainstream, it's just disappointing.

I was looking for a tea scent and I don't quite know what I have found. Darbouka is supposed to be an imaginary tea and I can see that. This perfume is not "just" a tea scent though. Wearing this scent makes me picture myself in the desert: it is 9pm, the hot sun has already disappeared and it is cooling down. I am next to my tent at the fireplace. Our camels are close by resting under the fig trees and I am enjoying my last bites dried fruits while having my first sip of THE DARBOUKA.
Wow- what an experience.
