Surprising twists
After Ginestra, Melograno is the second fragrance from the house of Santa Maria Novella that has moved in with me. And like Ginestra, Melograno is for me a typical fragrance for the warmer seasons. If I had to assign a color here, Melograno would be the warm, golden yellow of the late summer sunset, with a hint of orange. Maybe I'm influenced by the color in the bottle...?

Melograno is a fragrance that always surprises me, because it changes a lot on my skin as it goes on. All the twists and turns please me well, but you could almost make three fragrances out of it.

Melograno starts out bright, fruity-floral, slightly spicy with a damp-mossy note. It's hard for me to pick out individual flowers - I don't smell any roses, anyway. I wonder if what I perceive as fruity here is the pomegranate? Do not know, it is tart-fruity and I like it!

The first change in the scent happens quite quickly. It becomes noticeably greener and a strong soapy component joins in. Herbal soap is my spontaneous association and that is in no way meant negatively. I like herbal soaps a lot, but that aside...it smells quite simply great, subtly spicy. And again, I'm surprised at the turn the scent takes.

Towards the end, Melograno becomes powdery, warm and very soft and then stays that way. I would not have expected that after the soapy excursion then so. Also this aspect pleases me well.

Which of the three fragrance strands is the most beautiful for me? Very difficult to answer and is also dependent on the form of the day. If I had to choose now, that would probably be the second and third change, both in strong competition with each other.

All in all, Melograno always remains discreet, Yes I know, it is also an Eau de Cologne, there one should assume that this is rather no expansive fragrance. So Melograno remains quite close to one, without being weak on the chest. It takes a few hours until he then completely runs out of steam.

Melograno is a really nice fragrance, not only for the warm season. It is refreshing, without those fresh citrusy aspects that so many of the summer scents have. It's not sweet, more of a subtle tart spicy. And I've worn it in cooler temperatures by now. A soft chypre, that's my conclusion.

Melograno is also like a bit out of time, nostalgic, almost old-fashioned looking. I saw that there is not only soap but also body powder with this scent. Well, since I also already know what will haunt me the next time in the head around...

Perfect iris
Iris Silver Mist is an unusual and masterfully woven composition, elegant and noble. A perfect iris fragrance for me and unusual also because this iris root reminds me of a carrot for a split second at the very most when dabbing on the fragrance - and then never again.

I would characterize Iris Silver Mist basically as light and transparent, but the start is comparatively vehement and makes you sit up and take notice. Because Iris Silver Mist is accompanied at the beginning of almost sharp components. I am not someone who can smell the finest nuances, but I think galbanum is clearly perceptible here. Also a slightly smoky note rises to my nose. My fragrance-banausiger husband would probably comment with "here it smells burnt".

This effect is not long lasting and quite quickly the fragrance becomes soft, graceful, mellow. Silky surround me delicate clouds of fragrance. Like clear transparent mist veils, which dance early in the morning in autumn on the meadow. Rather ethereally delicate at the beginning, the mist changes over time, becoming softer, more vaporous, a bit more diffuse. Iris Silver Mist always remains silky and silvery, at no time becomes creamy.

Even if warm woods, musk and amber join in the course of the fragrance, a slightly metallic component ensures that a certain coolness always prevails. Iris Silver Mist retains an amazing clarity all the time.

The longevity is really very good on my skin at over 8 hours, the scent veils remain rather at arm's length. A bit melancholic I feel it, Iris SIlver Mist is not a cheerful good mood air, but serious, adult and belongs for me to the most beautiful Irisdüften.

One of my favorite photos here at Parfumo is the terrific "smoky" photo of EveMist. I especially admired the idea, composition and artistic rendering. But now that I've met Iris Silver Mist, I think the photo is even more brilliant, because it shows exactly how the fragrance smells. Sensational!

A fleeting rose dream
"White Rose" reminds me of a soap I smelled in my childhood. It's a very distant memory, and a very fragile one at that - like the scent itself. I remember taking the soap reverently from the drawer of a dresser. It was wrapped in the finest tissue paper and lay in the drawer like a treasure. Still wrapped in the paper, it smelled simply heavenly!

During my research, I learned that the soap "White Rose" by Floris actually still exists today. "White Rose" Eau de Toilette smells just as heavenly and the slightly greenish liquid in the bottle evokes those memories in me.
But not just those... I close my eyes and immediately hear birds chirping and leaves rustling. The air is soft and warm. With "White Rose," I've been beamed into a park. It's not a park in England, no, this park is just a few miles from where I live. I'm sitting on a wrought iron bench and to the left and right of it are large rose bushes. When it's really quiet, you can hear bees and bumblebees. Green notes and white roses dominate the scenery. Light as the beat of a wing, gentle yet beguiling, the fragrance caresses me. "White Rose" is one of the most beautiful rose fragrances - and also one that is unfortunately quite fragile.

Already after a short time, the fragrance develops creamy, the sillage remains very subtle. Especially in the warm season, you can wear "White Rose" very well. The durability is on my dry skin but unfortunately low. Either you pimp it with the corresponding body lotion - but I haven't tried that - or you have to re-spray more often. I usually don't like that at all, but with "White Rose" it's not bad, because there's not much of a scent progression recognizable here. Nevertheless, I would wish for more durability, I find it a pity when something so beautiful evaporates so quickly. Whether the Eau de Parfum is more durable, will be difficult to find out, because the EdP was probably unfortunately discontinued.

"White Rose" has no fragrance development, he is and remains an elegant, fine, very light rose fragrance. At the same time, it is never intrusive, is never too much. Very stylish and elegant, simply a dream!

Peaceful Rachel Lady
So far, none of Juliette Has A Gun's scents have been able to really convince me. They are well made, but something has always bothered me after a while. I found them always "too"...too synthetic, too raspy, too sweet, too wasauchimmer.

Now the bottle of "Lady Vengeance" is in my hand. They are beautiful, the bottles. And hand-flattering, it is really good in the hand, is raven black, round, heavy. Makes curious about the content.

First surprised me the first spray, because I expect a full, plump Rosenbouqet, with really a lot of Wumms and Trara. But the fragrance is much fresher, more delicate, than I had expected him. This freshness is also quite persistent and makes a really good mood. I really like that.

Gradually, woody, spicy notes can be smelled and later patchouli and vanilla still join. With this, the fragrance can of course score with me, because I love patchouli and vanilla. Together with the fresh rose note, this is a really well done mixture, while it remains harmonious, nothing pushes itself into the foreground. Something soapy it becomes in the course.

The fragrance name "Lady Vengeance" associates for me things that have nothing to do with the fragrance, but that is often so. "Lady Vengeance" is harmless, almost peaceful. And although quite lovely, I still have to think whether I dare to wear the fragrance in summer. The reason is the scent progression and the cloud of fragrance that accompanies one even when dosed carefully. Lady Vengeance is not a fragrance that you have to yourself, it is not quiet, but quite intense.

I read that Lady Vengeance is a modern rose chypre. Well, I don't know...it's actually too sweet for that and also a bit too synthetic for my liking. But as a conclusion, I think "Lady Vengeance" is a successful fragrance. It's well balanced, interesting and long lasting. So far my favorite of Juliette Has A Gun.

Soft, delicate feel-good fragrance
Many fragrances from Van Cleef & Arpels I like and they accompany me for a very long time. This is about "Rose Velours" from the Collection Extraordinaire, not to be confused with "Rose Rouge" from the same house. They have nothing in common except a similar name. "Rose Rouge" is rather a rose chypre and "Rose Velours" a powdery-floral fragrance with rose notes.

There was a time when I thought "Rose Velours" appealed to me BECAUSE it's not a typical rose scent. I have since learned that rose scents can definitely smell super on you. "Rose Velours" now, however, never had the potential to be MY rose scent - that being said, that spot is now occupied elsewhere. But "Rose Velours" is a nice, pleasant soft scent that I like to wear. It's cuddly, delicate, almost carefree. I know that there are no surprises waiting for me here, and that there is no jammy note around the corner. Nothing pokes the nose here, it is and remains a soft, fluffy scent, but one that never loses its airy character at any time.

Sounds boring? Well, maybe. "Rose Velours" is playful, almost dreamy. He is in any case no Rampensau and also does not score by the fact that the fragrance puts down a spectacular course or even tells a complex fragrance story.

Yet "Rose Velours" has a surprisingly fruity and tangy start. By iris and violet is
the floral direction is always predominant. Both components remain rather restrained, even the violets do not push themselves into the foreground - what they can indeed, the little guys. "Rose Velours" becomes discreetly honey-sweet with a slight rose note quite quickly, and it stays that way on my skin for quite a long time and doesn't change anymore. After about 6-7 hours, very soft, woody notes come to it, which fits together quite excellently.

"Rose Velours" is a fragrance that makes me dream, but also releases melancholic streams of thoughts. The fragrance reminds me of sunsets, of warm days. Soft, yet voluminous, finely balanced. There are days on which you need such fragrances.
