Good things from earlier times
Through a current Souk offer I have become aware of the Ébène de Balmain, an unfortunately now discontinued fragrance. While I was still thinking about the color of the bottle contents - aging, tipping, and so- , the professionals and connoisseurs have of course long since struck - the fragrance was gone.

A dear and here well known Parfumo has kindly provided me with a sample. His name I do not mention times to be on the safe side, otherwise he may overflow the mailbox with requests :-)
again many thanks to the noble donor!

Reviews of the Ébène there are so many good, that I save me here :-)
And yes, he is really great and special - and there is just virtually not.

Already at the first test spraying had immediately associations with other fragrances.
Therefore, I have times amateurishly tried to "rebuild" the fragrance with fragrances from my shelf, which should please not be understood as blasphemy :-)

here the spray instructions, in the order:
1. carefully dosed at most half a spray "One Man Show Gold Edition" by Jacques Bogart, for's slightly animalic leathery - super intense, so rather less than more
2. one spray of "Cuir Pleine Fleur" by Heeley, for its slightly balsamic, herbaceous and meadowy note
3. a spray of "Agua Brava" by Puig, supports the two above into the warm-green-ethereal
4. and a spray of "Grey Flannel" by Geoffrey Beene, for a slightly barber-shoppy freshness

I find the result surprisingly close to the original for my untrained nose.
And except for the Heeley, they are all very cheap base fragrances - so you could dare the experiment....

You all a hopefully more fragrant year 2021 - the current had so his quirks.

Forte Intenso Cuddling Power
In the morning I stood again in front of the perfume cabinet and asked what I was in the mood for today. From the evening before there was still the "Unum - Io Non Ho Mani..." on my left arm, still quite intense. On the right, Musc Ravageur was allowed to join it... and what can I say: there is a clear similarity for me in the basic theme
But the MR still has a very light soft-citric touch, I thought of the Nishane Ani.
What could be more obvious than to give a mini splash of the ani on the Unum - Io Non Ho Mani.
and lo and behold, wow - a turbo MR has been created.
More intense, longer lasting and wonderful ... i will probably lay more often now :-)

Same seed?
a totally subjective and dear comparison between Alexandria Bespoke and Creed Royal Mayfair.
first of all: the price can no longer be the deciding factor in a purchase, both are almost the same thanks to the various discounters' offers.

*Opening*
Bespoke: fresher, the eucalyptus more in the foreground. Pleasant pick-me-up
Mayfair: softer, slightly rounder. am torn in perception from slightly floral to slightly chemical (polish, extinguishing agent) . If he were from ELDO, many would perhaps say: an avant-garde flatterer
Advantage: Mood dependent

*Course*
the two approach each other, walking arm in arm in the autumnal sunshine even remnants of the nightly hoarfrost. the bespoke remains fresher but becomes softer - the mayfair loses its chemical note.
Advantage: same on

*Shelf life*
The Mayfair is slightly in front.

Conclusion:
P/L at UVP I would prefer the Bespoke, which I generally like a bit better.
The durability of the Mayfair is a little more convincing, but the fragrance is only 95% of my liking
Flacon and packaging clear at Creed.

well, not an easy decision to make. or is it? :-)

fatal attraction
Ozone, I don't know what makes you so attractive

Was I rather confused at the beginning - do I like you, do I not like you.
When I asked others to ease my confusion, it was even more so.
I think you're polarizing!
And I know I can't stop smelling you
Yes, there is coconut and mint, but there are also other associations with furniture polish and other chemicals. And all these contradictions embedded in wood and amber...
