A dream in blue and gold
When my parcel from my favorite online perfumery arrived a few days ago, I was of course as happy as a little child. I had been eagerly following the delivery online all day and counted every stop. After a long wait, the letter carrier finally put the parcel in my hand. I thanked him, walked quickly into the living room and opened it. I was of course already familiar with the smell of the new perfume, so the samples were correspondingly interesting for me. I looked at the label on the small golden bottle and read "Xerjoff - 40 Knots". Interesting, I thought, I hadn't necessarily expected a Xerjoff as a sample supplement. I took one of the test strips provided and sprayed once, twice, three times, waved it around in the air a little and took a deep whiff through my nose. I was immediately blown away. The sea air wasn't the dominant scent, but it was definitely incredibly beautiful. The honey was very present, but not in an overwhelming way like many others, but very flattering, like a hug from a good friend you haven't seen for a long time. And then there are the woody notes that form a really elegant base. Yes, it really was love at first sniff. It was even more beautiful on the skin. I even received a few compliments from some of my friends with this fragrance. I'm going to generalize here and make the statement that really nobody will perceive this fragrance in a negative way. Yes, I immediately knew "I'll buy this next!".

I can't really do what I actually like to do and that is to criticize. So half a point off for not having this bad habit.

Do I have any recommendations for wearing the fragrance? No, not really. Whether summer, winter, fall or spring, the fragrance performs really well on icy winter days as well as on hot summer days. However, in my opinion there are differences in which note is in the foreground. It may be my imagination, but for me the marine note was clearly more recognizable and present in the warm than in the cold. On the other hand, the honey is definitely less restrained in the cold than in the summer and is more directly recognizable as honey. In the warm, it was more of a nice, pleasant, albeit subtle, sweetness that I wouldn't have directly identified as honey.

A Xerjoff that impressively demonstrates that you don't need a whole shopping basket of scents to create a truly fantastic fragrance.
