Cow - An Interview with Nathalie Feisthauer

Cow - An Interview with Nathalie Feisthauer

The second part of the blog series is about Cow, which was created by Nathalie Feisthauer.

How did the collaboration with Zoologist come about?
I can't remember exactly when this collaboration was born, but I do know that I really wanted to work with this brand. Zoologist is an original, singular and crazy brand, and I was very happy to take part in the Cow project.

Depending on if the animal was already determined for you or not, what made you choose the cow and if not, what was the first thing that came to mind when getting to know the fragrance should represent a cow?
I didn't choose to work on the cow fragrance, it was Victor who thought of a cow for me. When he told me, I laughed and said: “We hardly know each other, you already don't like me”. At first, I didn't find it very exciting to work on a cow. But as time went by, I found it very inspiring to imagine a happy cow in the middle of the pastures.

What defines Cow’s character?
I wanted to create a fragrance reflecting a happy cow in a meadow eating grass.

How did you create the milk accord?
I wanted to create an accord reminiscent of fresh milk from a meadow, so I’ve started with a milk accord 😉 We don’t have that many ingredients 😉 I just didn’t want it to be buttery, but fresh milk and a grass fed Cow 😜

What are your thoughts on my review of Cow?*
I’m fine with your text 😉

I would say the scent helps bring a certain calm back into a busy life and reminds the person wearing it to stop and smell the roses.

What is your relationship with nature and your definition of the „beauty of life“ that may or may not influenced the creation of the scent?
I've loved nature ever since I was a child, my mum had a beautiful garden full of flowers. So, it was very important for me to recreate this haven of peace in the middle of Montmartre. My garden is my most precious treasure.

After all these successful years in the perfume world, what would you say still surprises yourself about the craft and supports you in continuing to compose multifaceted fragrances?
What surprises me after all these years is that I still love my job and writing new stories.

* Review:

Spring on the meadow

A new year, a new beginning. Life awakens from its winter sleep and takes us to an idyllic meadow, which, with its alpine-like scenery, turns us into amateur mountaineers. The ascent to the pastureland, which is located on a plateau, is neither rocky nor is the slope very steep, so that a small hut surrounded by natural pastures is reached with ease. The smell of fresh grass, delicate flowers and meadow herbs is in the air. In the distance you can hear the gentle rippling of a stream flowing back into the valley. The panoramic view of the landscape promises a palette of green tones, shaded on the ground with the most diverse colors of flowers. The area is drawn in front of a mountain range that closes off the horizon with an azure blue canvas, which in turn is broken up by large, white patches. The cattle lie comfortably either in the sun or in the shade of the clouds and trees, daydreaming and chewing.

The scent of Cow projects a painting of realistic nature onto the olfactory cells. With the mixture of fresh and green aromas, a lively meadow in the sunshine is created. A distinctive, appetizing apple note with a slightly aromatic herbal tone symbolizes the birth of the next annual cycle. The fruit is enveloped in an airy floral aura of white flowers that reflect sheer purity. The mere voice of the environment without anthropogenic background noise. The sun casting its warming rays onto the scene from the blue sky. Finally, the meadow is embedded in gentle musk clouds. The soft base makes the scent harmonious, uncomplicated and pleasant. Cow is instinctive, loving and familiar. A calming companion that immediately creates a feel-good atmosphere

These fragrances were created by Nathalie Feisthauer.
