Fall Fragrance Festival: Favorite Fall Gourmands

Fall Fragrance Festival: Favorite Fall Gourmands

Kicking off the "fall fragrance festival" article series, here are a few autumn gourmands I'm enjoying this year! 🍁

1. BronzoBronzo

Think of your favorite fall craft store candle, but make it wearable - and you have BronzoBronzo . It's mixed baking spices, syrupy warmth, a bit of creamy vanilla in the base.

If the leather, tobacco flower, and other floral notes give you pause, don't worry: to me they are well-blended and support the fragrance with a soft, velvety undertone.

2. My Happy. - Cookies & KissesMy Happy. - Cookies & Kisses

The name here is misleading - it's not gourmand like a real cookie or apple pie. Instead this is a sexy patchouli bomb, with some spicy warmth. My nose picks up soft vanilla gourmand, ambery-musk, cedar chest, and "forest".

I saw someone say it was like tossing baked goods into a pile of leaves, and that is absolutely spot-on - but they're freshly-fallen autumn leaves that are still wet from a cold rain, and there's a fire inside a cedar cabin nearby. Even as someone who usually avoids patchouli, I'm addicted to this!

3. Miel BourbonMiel Bourbon

This boozy blend would appeal to those who normally dislike anything alcoholic. Miel BourbonMiel Bourbon is a peach-infused bourbon on the rocks - with a brown sugar-dusted rim, and a candied peach slice garnish. The longer I wear it, it evolves into a smoky-sweet peach cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream + drizzle of bourbon syrup over top. Quickly becoming one of my favorites for fall!

4. Fall CashmereFall Cashmere

Fall CashmereFall Cashmere has been a fan favorite for a few years now, and it's easy to see why. To my nose, this is a combination of several things I love about autumn: a dense, sweet pumpkin bread, cinnamon pinecones from a craft store, and mulled apple cider. (While apple isn't listed, I swear it's there! It is more fleeting than the other notes, though.)

5. CozyCozy

Don't be fooled: it might be a Rue 21 fragrance - but there is nothing synthetic or cheap about this. CozyCozy is one of the richest, highest-quality gourmands in my collection. (Rue 21 no longer exists as a company - but there are thankfully plenty of bottles to be found on resale platforms.)

Despite no caramel being listed, this feels like a rich caramel blend. With notes of almond, marshmallow, muguet, milky woods, patchouli and ambrox, it's definitely gourmand but not tooth-achingly sweet. The cardamom adds a sophisticated depth, and augments the overall warmth.

6. Sweet Whiskey V.2Sweet Whiskey V.2

When Sweet Whiskey was first released in Fall 2020, the red berries note was off-putting to me. It was re-released just a few months later in Winter 2020 (Sweet Whiskey V.2Sweet Whiskey V.2), and there was a slightly-powdery + fresh addition of apple blossom instead of the red berries. It felt like pouring vanilla-infused, ambery-whiskey into a glass and topping it with frothy apple blossom foam, and I couldn't get enough of it!

After Winter 2020, Bath & Body Works changed Sweet Whiskey back to the original formula - but it's worth hunting down a Winter 2020 bottle, since the apple blossom note makes this one especially magical.

7. Spiced Vanilla FigSpiced Vanilla Fig

Victoria's Secret has created some beautiful fig fragrances over the years, and I love that they've released a new one this fall! The opening of Spiced Vanilla FigSpiced Vanilla Fig is a blast of sharp, sweet anise - which gives it an "ambery cola" feel to start. This quickly softens into powdery fig + subtle, creamy chai. It has a fairly quiet dry-down, but it makes for a cozy personal scent bubble.

Have you tried any of these fragrances? 🍁
What are your favorite gourmand, boozy, etc. scents for fall?

Coming soon in this fall fragrance series:

@Emilyforest you are so sweet, I appreciate your kind compliments! 🥰 It's fun designing the banners, and I'm with you in needing some pumpkin pie now too lol. (Maybe we both need to buy or make some, sooner rather than later!)
Thank you so much for your support, it always means so much to me! 💖🫶

Fall Cashmere sounds nice! wish I could try that one. Cozy also sounds nice, though I'm not sure how much I'd like it. I think I always like the idea of caramel in fragrance, but then end up disliking it when I smell it, or it doesn't smell like I expect. and at the price for a blind buy, can't say I'd go for Cozy. but it does sound nice.
I'm not the biggest gourmand fan, and from looking at the stuff I plan on wearing over this fall, there's only 2 I'd really count as gourmands! those being Festive Fantasy and Viva La Juicy Sucre. I don't think they have to strictly be fall fragrances, but they are to me. they hit just right and I'm eager to switch to my October fragrances already, tho I had Festive Fantasy in rotation for September too.

@Gourmandgrl there's a Sephora in a Kohl's near me, but it's very small and their fragrance collection only consists of the big name stuff. they don't have Skylar or Phlur or anything. unfortunate, really. I wanna try more. the only regular Sephora remotely near me is a 40+ minute drive, annoyingly. and it's not in an area I currently wanna go to for any other reasons. but maybe sometime. would be nice.
caramel is something I don't feel like I typically get from fragrance, unless it's the focus like it is in Jessica Simpson Fancy. I don't like Fancy. I did get the caramel, but that's all it was to me and I was not into it.
Festive Fantasy is incredible. the biggest reason I am not into gourmands is because I'm super sensitive to them and they are too strong. but Festive Fantasy works. it is a bit floral, but it's also very jelly donut.
yeah, there's plenty! I'm a sucker for all things fruity, of course. and some like, gourmand-adjacent stuff.

@MOONTRIPS Fall Cashmere is definitely really nice, I hope you'll get to try it!
Do you have a Sephora near you? If so, they often have tester bottles of Fall Cashmere to try for free.
I understand what you mean about caramel - sometimes it comes across as too sweet to me, or a bit sticky and suffocating. Not sure if you feel the same way! But if so, Cozy was a nice surprise - as it has more sophisticated warmth, and not the common caramel sugar overdose/"stickiness" issue.
I've heard so many good things about Festive Fantasy, so I'll have to hunt down a sample - I appreciate you reminding me about it! And Viva Le Juicy Sucre is definitely a gourmand, that's a great choice for cooler weather.
Totally get that gourmands aren't for everyone - are there other fragrances besides those two, that you enjoy wearing in cooler weather?
Thank you for commenting, I appreciate it! 🤗

Fall Cashmere is THAT fall girl and I REALLLLLYY don't get why it's rated so low on Parfumo. It smells like a warm, comforting cup of chaï tea with just the nicest blend of spices and sweetness. Other than that, I'm in love with Fève Gourmande which I bought last year and am looking forward to using more this season. Tihota, Escapade Gourmande, Vanilla 28 and 32 Venenum also come to mind (from my collection). Other than that, trying out decants made for the colder weather!

@Gourmandgrl Fève Gourmande smells like chocolate and spices. It's a masterfully well-blended creation from Guerlain that's never too sweet, too powdery, too cloying or too spicy. It's done just right (at least to my skin chemistry).

@Telekinec I always love hearing your thoughts, thank you for commenting! 🤗
Totally agree, really don't understand either when it smells so delicious (and is surprisingly complex for a "basic fall" fragrance, too!). Definitely THAT fall girl as you said! 🙌🍁
Those are all excellent choices for autumn! I haven't tried Fève Gourmande yet - what do you love most about that one?
I look forward to hearing about any new decants you try that you love!
