Blindly you came to me, blindly I tested you. At that time still completely unaware of what you would still do for me and mean. That you will be a fragrance that life has written for me.
Maybe you were even sent to me - as a kind of guardian angel. A companion who should go hand in hand with me through a very difficult time.
When I was allowed to perceive you for the first time on my skin I thought -- oh I like it.
The very next day you did something with me and I am then completely addicted to you with it.
A few days later, my dear dad came into the hospital. The time that awaited me afterwards was difficult, sad and very challenging. After some days it was clear to me that I must let him go, exactly already like my dear mummy a few years before.
I wanted to be strong for him and try to give him as much love and "hey, I'm here" as I possibly could.
Sure there came the question in me every day before hospital visits -- what scent do I wear to make me feel strengthened and protected!!! You were immediately the answer to this question.
I went into a silent conversation with you -- can you accompany me on this path, stand by me strengthening and protecting, and can I still love you afterwards and wear carefree?!
I quickly realized that if a fragrance creates that, then it is you - created from this wonderful house Guerlain, which itself has already lived through many decades of bad times and still full of pride, elegance and with a lot of heart and soul creates these wonderful creations. My refuge for now so many years.
When I hold your so beautiful bottle against the light, you reflect it back to me -- a black label...but there is also so much golden light in you at the same time, so much warmth.
Just as it is in life. Both are there and you may decide for yourself, on which side you want to align his gaze and especially his heart.
Yes so it can be, with fragrances that writes you life.
You carried me even through the very hardest day, when I could only send white roses, a few whispered words and two balloons to the sky.
I love you! You know it and maybe you even look at me while writing these lines over my shoulders . Love never fades. This is such a great comfort.
When I spray on this fragrance, I immediately perceive warm, rich tonka and almond. Tonka streams flow, amber caramel stars sparkle in addition in the firmament, vanilla flowers sprout and fluffy almond powder clouds pass.
I would also like to quote my statement at this point because it was the first thoughts about this fragrance :
Dark,rich tonka boughs pour out,almond and amber caramel purr your name,vanilla slowly melts into your heart. Balsam.
Yes so you are for me.
And so much more. Your maturation process has made you even rounder and more perfect and conjured you a large portion of elegance to it. Simply wonderful.
If I am sad today and spray you on, then you comfort me and ümhüllen me with a warming and protective aura. You calm me and make me happy. You are simply my soul tincture.

I'll save the back story for this review. That's how you are. You spare yourself any banter and get straight to the point. Those who wet their skin with you immediately feel your rich, warm, dense and sensual vanilla kiss. Very briefly, the bergamot makes a little curtsy hand in hand with the mandarin. One could almost think it's only to protect your victim because you immediately go into full swing. There's no escaping it - your full-bodied embracing nature captures you completely. Dense opulent vanilla threads ensnare me and don't let me go either. If the name Addict wasn't already taken elsewhere - it would probably be yours. Captivated by you, I pursue your further magic on my skin.
Though I can feel you with every fiber, I still find it hard to put you into words.
The rich purple of your bottle reflects you perfectly - you are Purple Vanilla Rain to me.
I danced in it once and haven't been able to forget you since. You wear your gold lid proudly like a crown and rightly so.
In the drydown you envelop me like a protective cocoon. Only from then on one recognizes your gentle nature. To then say goodbye to you after many hours tenderly melting - almost like a raindrop evaporates by the warmth of the sun in front of my eyes on my skin.
You are wild, exciting, dark, heavy,sensual and just beautiful.
What a shame your creators took you off the market.

Fragrance: exactly as described dense, opulent, sensual, dark and warm vanilla magic.

Sillage: Oh yes - he has. One to two sprays are enough.

Durability: Very good - YSL worthy.

Flacon: Beautiful feminine purple dream.

Price: It used to be reasonable... currently I prefer not to talk about it.

Love at first sight it was not exactly with us. Although your wonderful flacon has already flirted with me from the beginning.
Your parents' house, stylish as it is, has always pleased me well. Only your content I had somehow as much too flowery and "girly" in memory. Too little statement and too little "myself". I thought at least.
Then a year ago I reached in a well-known fragrance house for your "I" and for whatever reason - suddenly I recognized a piece of myself in it.
It was already summer and right after the first spray I thought - wow, you smell expensive and high quality!
Nevertheless, the thought - "too bloomy" was still there.
First you are quite fresh, probably the lemon gently embraced by the tangerine.
Then something scratches my nose, just enough that it doesn't bother me yet. I suspect it's the pink pepper that makes you come across a wee bit rebellious here.
But from then on you become just beautiful on my skin. You become warm, subtly sweet, very feminine and also elegant. Yes - I like you! By now, even very.
In the Dry Down you become even a little rounder and more beautiful with me. Although no vanilla slumbers in you, I have an association with it - that will probably be the precious rosewood - maybe just because it was united in you with patchouli.
Anyway - I like you steadily better and I wear you suspiciously often on my skin lately. Who would have thought that?!
Of course, what's already reaching another dramatic touch here is the fact that you've now been brutally taken off the market because of your successor...and just when I've learned to value and genuinely love you...
What a shame!
And I'm left to wonder - did it really have to be this way!

Scent: you need a little time to develop but then you are really a warm, soft and feminine dream.

Sillage: Pleasant and never too much.

Durability: With this you can "work" well.
A tip - with the Roll On (EdT) it can be extended prima or refresh.

Flacon: Very nice and feminine - I really like.

Price: You come from a good house, your price is appropriate - however, it is rising straight to heaven.

Since this fragrance is based on my absolute heart fragrance, I would like to add a few more words to my statement. I hope this can be a decision-making aid for all those who, like me, sorely miss the masterpiece perfume L'Initial. Is this new L'Initial a beautiful fragrance? Yes. It is. Is it an identical reissue of the perfume L'Initial?
No, for me it is clearly not. You can already tell by the fragrance color, which is quite clearly different. Even if I only sniff the two bottles, I already perceive a difference. L'Inital is lighter than its predecessor. It doesn't have the depth and complexity for me that makes L'Initial perfume so special. It also doesn't go through as finely tuned a scent progression as my old treasure. In terms of longevity and also sillage, they differ just as significantly. While Parfum L'Initial can be perceived by me for days, L'Initial evaporates, at least for me, after a short time. Only in the hair it can exist a little longer - after all. The DNA of the original version is clearly there, which is a small consolation for all lovers. While Parfum L'Initial is a full-grown, wild and self-possessed feline predator, L'Inital is for me a little kitten that can certainly bewitch with its loveliness. The brief for Thierry Wasser here might have been -- please create a fragrance that lies between the L'Initial EdP perfume and l' Eau, happily leaving out the soapiness from the latter and adding a gentle hint of animalicism from the primordial Shalimar EdP - et voila: L'Initial. So I perceive him at least.
If you read the statements of the house of Guerlain carefully, you can also hear out there that it is a new and fresh interpretation. This fragrance is part of the "Les Parisiennes" collection, in which the house's most coveted creations have been reinvented as a kind of homage to its loyal customers and lovers.
With this background, I gratefully accept this "gift" from the house of Guerlain and am already thinking about whether I can not lay my liquid gold (Parfum L'Initial) perhaps with this, so that I can still float as long as possible, wrapped in this dream, through this world...

Have fun discovering this fragrance and my tip is - please do not approach with the expectation that in this bottle slumbers the good old perfume L'Initial.

Fragrance: Clearly the Parfum L'Initial DNA, but lighter, less deep and complex.
Generally a nice, round, warm,powdery and feminine fragrance.

Sillage: Much less noticeable than the " predecessor".

Durability: At least with me, unfortunately, rather weak.

Flacon: It is beautiful but absolutely no comparison to the magnificent work of art of the perfume L'Initials.

Price: Could be a little too high for my liking...

All the spectators are silent almost speechless. Expectations are in the air and mix there with tension. The lights dim, adding a little more crackle to the atmosphere. Then the music starts. An oriental full-figured woman enters the room and spreads pure magic. Her outfit and her presence resemble an adventure from the Thousand and One Nights. Her movements leave even the last spectator breathless. Her aura is enveloped in the most sensual way - opium fills the now with pure enthusiasm drenched room.

These memories come up in me when I smell opium today. It was a belly dance performance whose very special and magical atmosphere has anchored itself deeply in my thoughts. This interplay of scent, dance and music left a deep impression on me and has remained absolutely present for years. Although I have owned the fragrance myself for many years before, I always associate it only first with this scenario. It just overrode all previous memories. I'm not sad about it because that very dance, that passion and sensuality- coupled with pure femininity, is found in this fragrance. It is almost impossible for me and I forbid myself at this point to pick apart the fragrance pyramid here now. It is a total work of art and it should sweep everyone away in its own way. This creation has depth and most importantly consistency. Something I find sorely lacking at a great many points today. It delivers and delivers and delivers...also what it promises! Definitely not's for the faint hearted or even the faint hearted. I would say it needs character to be able to fully unfold its own essence on the skin - yes to be able to perform its very special, magical dance with all facets on it. One spray and you are abducted - now, if you manage to let go completely, you will lose yourself in it. But, you are lost and yet feel very much alive and absolutely richly endowed...

For sure, it is a fragrance that writes history and stories.

Sillage: not only dance room filling...

Longevity: Bombastic and merciless.

P.S. I unfortunately never had the pleasure to perceive this fragrance on the appropriate men's skin but I think there goes a lot...
