Amber Dream
Amber Star is, as the name suggests, a wonderful sweet amber fragrance. High-quality and creamy, this perfume feels like a revelation for lovers of amber scents. Various oriental resins, whose aromas have been excellently extracted, enhance the fragrance and transform the gentle power of the dominant amber note into a soft scent note. The resulting composition is finely rounded off by warm-spicy sandalwood and cedarwood, and immersed in a sweet, embracing Bourbon vanilla.
An inimitable fragrance, rarely have I smelled such a rounded, noble, and high-quality scent.
The longevity is outstanding, as is the sillage.
Highly recommended!

The Golden Stallion
Godolphin from the French fragrance house Parfums de Marly is, for me, a niche scent that somehow manages to feel mainstream in an indescribably beautiful way!
I even fear that one day this very fragrance direction will become the new One Million for the boys who dance to techno! But that simply must not happen!!!
Its dominant expressiveness and magical allure enchanted me immediately.
Shortly after application, Godolphin exudes its magical, rich aura of soft Tuscan leather and a delicate, zesty bitterness. This bitterness, which likely comes from the cypress, reminds me of Encre Noir, but is only faintly perceptible, skillfully tempering the wonderful floral heart notes so that it doesn't become too flowery.
I have always found floral nuances in men's fragrances very appealing, but unfortunately, in most cases, they were too unrefined and ultimately too feminine for me.
Godolphin is completely different!
Here, the soft, bright leather forms a perfect symbiosis with jasmine.
Surrounding the lovebirds are dry woods and that delicate bitter cypress.
The whole is rounded off by musk and amber.
No component is too much or too little here. They all dance at the same wedding!
Godolphin is a very pleasantly wearable scent for the cooler seasons and nearly every occasion.
Well, I wouldn't want to wear the stallion for sports, but he has already found many admirers in the office.
There are only a few fragrances that have such a high recognition value and are as harmonious as Godolphin! Of course, Tuscan Leather is also in that category, which is very, very similar to Godolphin, but does not reach the beautiful, sweet leather-jasmine symbiosis! In Tuscan Leather, it’s more about the leather-raspberry theme, which makes it feel a bit rougher, scratchier, and cooler!
For this reason, the golden stallion has also become my signature! It simply unites everything a good masculine perfume should have:
Untouchability, sensuality, arrogance, and intelligence!
Full score!

The Matte Horse
My test through the range of Parfums de Marly continues. I really liked the first four: Herod, Pegasus, Oajan, and Layton, and now I was eager to test even more. I ordered a small 3ml sample of this fragrance "Carlisle." A scent with a nice fragrance pyramid that could fit my preferences. Additionally, it has a fragrance twin, Tom Ford Noir Extreme, which I already own and like.
The bottle is typically good, simple, convincing, here in matte black. The name is inspired by the English town of Carlisle. It was probably originally intended mainly for the British.
Here, it is classified as a woody-spicy scent. For me, it has significantly higher gourmand notes than rated here. At the start, it strongly reminds me of the mentioned twin TF Noir Extreme. Fruit-nutmeg-vanilla. While TF drifts more towards unisex, almost feminine, I find this one distinctly more masculine and spicier. The nutmeg note is very good and very present at the start. A fruity note is also well perceivable, which harmonizes nicely with the nutmeg. This is followed by a strong vanilla-tonka blend. Nothing new these days, but it usually works well. Here, it is also well done, cozy, and delicious. What slightly sets this fragrance apart from the others is the opoponax, which acts more in the background. A slight smokiness fits wonderfully with the creation of nutmeg-fruit-vanilla. Completed by patchouli, it forms a rounded creation that should be well received by most.
Performance is gourmand-like. The sillage is decent, and the longevity is about 8 hours. Suitable like almost all gourmands primarily on cool days in autumn, winter, or even in spring.
Even though the fragrance has its own touch, I will not be acquiring this one. For me, it is a typical Marly, which leans very much towards Herod. I find that one a bit better. Moreover, it is also cheaper at 200 euros. Carlisle is available for a hefty and excessive 280 euros. I also find TF Noir Extreme to be better and significantly cheaper. Nevertheless, I must admit: Carlisle has style and is not necessarily wasted money if one wants and can spend more.

Finest Gourmand...
A Christmas dream!
Oajan, so typical of Marly,
hits hard from the very first second, full on.
Spicy, dark, heavy and sweet, well, how else could it be.
For Marly, this is nothing new, is it worth a test?
Strong, stormy, typically horse-like!
It starts with dark wood and cinnamon,
An opening where everything is just right.
Dark, enveloped, it seems,
Let’s see what else it can do.
In the heart now, it becomes sweet and heavy,
I can tell you, it’s very Christmassy!
Cinnamon and spices galore,
Instantly recognized as the Christmas market!
The sweet hustle and bustle of Christmas,
You want to indulge in it.
Gourmand takes over the dark,
and keeps the wearer on their toes.
Apple strudel is now perceived,
The transformation is now complete.
A master of transformation clearly to see,
The sweetness comes, the woods go.
How does the proud steed sound now?
Will the feast of love turn into a horror?
No reason to worry, the heavenly scent,
lingers Christmas-like and soothing in the air.
The sweetness remains, cinnamon, honey, vanilla,
After 10 hours, slowly emerging silence,
You were there for a long time, accompanied me,
led me to a purchase.
So one must say,
The test was quite rewarding,
even if certainly not gentle on the wallet.
In the usual black bottle, splendid attire,
you now stand in the cabinet for a long time.
And you know Oajan, in all your splendor,
You’ve made me completely addicted.

"Your scent smells really good..."
Those were the words of a young lady I did not know, who noticed my fragrance from about 4 meters away, after I had perhaps sprayed it on my wrist five seconds earlier to show it to an acquaintance.
We were at a party and I had Layton in a small atomizer with me to reapply throughout the evening. My acquaintance wanted to smell Layton after I told her that I had a new fragrance and that it is now one of my absolute favorites.
This positive reaction from the ladies is not an exception when it comes to Layton; rather, it is the rule, which is what I mostly experience when I wear Layton.
I have tested several fragrances and acquired a few scents over the last few years that are said to leave a positive impression on the female gender. Of all these fragrances, Layton is now my definite favorite. In my eyes, it is multifaceted, smells very noble and high-quality, lasts a long time, and simply has something about it that captivates me again and again, brings a smile to my face, and convinces me every time that I have probably found MY fragrance with Layton.
Herod is also in my possession, and I like it very much as well, especially during the cold season in cozy situations, it is just perfect.
I can somewhat understand the similarity to Boss Bottled, which is often attributed to it, but in my opinion, it smells at most 30% similar to the bestseller from Metzingen.
However, Layton plays in a completely different league in my eyes.
No fragrance has brought me more compliments while simultaneously pleasing me so much.
I already know that the empty bottles of this wonderful fragrance will stack up in my display case over the next few years, and I am already looking forward to all the positive reactions that Layton will bring me in the future.
Thank you, PdM!
