Spicy cardamom, carrot seed, and cinnamon bark define the earthy, spicy opening of the composition. At the heart, powdery iris takes center stage, accompanied by a warm milky accord and floral lactones that lend the fragrance a soft, creamy texture. Sandalwood root and amber ultimately lead “Opening Night” into a warm finish with balsamic facets. 

The nose behind the fragrance is Sophie Labbé. The renowned French perfumer is already responsible for several of the brand’s popular creations, including “I Am Coming Home”, “The Moon and I” and “Sound of a Ricochet”.

Inspired by London's West End

“Opening Night” was inspired by the London theater scene after dark. The fragrance is designed to capture the tense atmosphere just before a performance begins, as the auditoriums fill and the moment the curtain rises draws near.  While spicy notes of cardamom and cinnamon dominate, powdery, creamy iris accords provide a velvety undertone reminiscent of the decor of classic theater auditoriums.

About Floraïku: Poetry and Perfume

In 2017, Clara Molloy and her Irish husband, John Molloy, founded Floraïku after a trip to Japan sparked the idea for the perfume house. Since then, the brand has combined French perfumery with influences from Japanese aesthetics, nature, and poetry. The brand name is a combination of “Flora” (the plant world) and “Haiku” (a Japanese poetic form).

In addition to poetic snapshots, Floraïku also draws inspiration from traditional Japanese arts—from the tea ceremony Ô Cha to the art of flower arrangement Ikebana and the art of incense Kōdō.
