Fragrant Memories: The Debut of twentysecondofmay

The German label twentysecondofmay is entering the perfume market with four unisex fragrances - with the aim of translating personal memories into olfactory experiences.

The brand name refers to a defining date in the lives of founders Morgan and Luisa: May 22, 2015 - the day they became a couple. This memory gave rise to a philosophy that forms the heart of the brand today: emotional connection, interpersonal relationships and shared moments with loved ones. At the same time, May is a symbol of new beginnings, lightness and the first hint of summer.

The first collection comprises four extraits de parfum with a concentration of 30 percent perfume oil - for a long-lasting sillage and intense presence. Each fragrance tells its own story, inspired by experiences and personal memories.

Behind the compositions are internationally renowned perfumers: Christian Carbonnel created „Bee’s Home“ and „Frosted Flame“, Joschka Klee crafted „Roots of Kente“ and Alice Le Berre is the nose behind „Sunbeds & Daydreams“.

Roots of Kente

Woven into the fabric of history, patterns tell stories of heritage, strength and honor. The echo of ancestors shapes our being and binds us to the rhythms of tradition. In these sacred roots lies an indestructible foundation - one that carries the weight of love, connection and the richness of legacy, forever in the essence of who we are.

Inspired by Morgan's Ghanaian roots, "Roots of Kente" interweaves olfactory memories of trips to Ghana with elements of cultural identity. The fragrance is warm, sweet and at the same time wearable in a tropical climate - named after the traditional kente fabric once reserved for kings.

The fragrance opens with a blend of brown sugar and aldehydes that lend it a sweet freshness. A creamy, tropical composition of warm cocoa and African tonka bean unfolds in the heart, accompanied by coconut milk and heliotrope. The base of amber, Indian sandalwood, labdanum and musk gives the fragrance its sensual depth, rounded off with a creamy-sweet vanilla note.

Bee's Home

A delicate ballet of nature unfolds - bees and flowers intertwine in a dance of devotion, each a sanctuary for the other. A world where love hums in the air, where petals sway golden visitors and harmony thrives in the gentle embrace of nature.

"Bee's Home" is a tribute to the love between Luisa and Morgan. At the beginning of their relationship, Morgan often affectionately called Luisa "his bee". The fragrance captures the sense of security we feel when we are close to our loved ones - and is intended to remind us of the moment when a fresh bouquet of flowers is handed over.

The composition begins with a fresh, spicy top note of Brazilian mandarin and incense, which combines with the floral elegance of Bulgarian rose and jasmine auriculatum. Honey lends the heart note a creamy-sweet nuance. Warm, balsamic notes of ambergris, myrrh, Ceylon cinnamon, vanilla and sandalwood unfold in the base, giving the fragrance a sweet, creamy finish.

Frosted Flame

A love story full of contrasts, where fire and ice meet, where passion and cool restraint collide. Opposites intertwine in a magnetic dance where each intensifies the attraction of the other. This fragrance captures the paradox of desire - both ardent and calm, a harmony of extremes that burns with irresistible elegance.

A play of contrasts: "Frosted Flame" reflects the dynamics of a relationship - strong and gentle characters that complement each other and keep the relationship alive. Opposites such as cold and warm, light and dark merge together - captured in an oriental woody fragrance.

The composition begins with a creamy-sweet opening of bourbon vanilla, powdery notes and musk, which fades into an exotic floral heart of Egyptian mimosa, jasmine and ylang-ylang. Powerful base notes of Indonesian oud, Madagascan pepper and cinnamon lend the fragrance a spicy, woody depth and give it a warm finish.

Sunbeds & Daydreams

"Sunbeds & Daydreams" is inspired by summer vacations on the Côte d'Azur. A solar accord captures the golden warmth of the sun on the skin, while maritime notes are intended to reflect the fresh, salty breeze of the ocean.

The fragrance opens with a fresh top note of pear, accompanied by a warm solar note. In the heart, maritime notes meet the sweetness of honey, complemented by jasmine, which adds a floral freshness. In the base, a woody-creamy warmth of amber, ambroxan and cashmere wood unfolds, rounded off by musk with sensual, powdery nuances.

twentysecondofmay: From sketches in the nursery to her own perfume brand

The idea for twentysecondofmay was born in 2019, when Morgan and Luisa sat together in Luisa's childhood bedroom, decided on the brand name and drew their first sketches in an old Frederic Malle notebook. Even though their journey turned out differently than they thought at the time, it was the beginning of a vision that stuck with them.

in 2023, they decided to realize their dream - with the aim of creating fragrances that not only impress with their quality and luxurious feel, but also bring a breath of fresh air to the world of niche fragrances.

Luisa's in-depth training in perfumery and her years of experience in perfume buying, coupled with Morgan's keen aesthetic sense, complemented each other perfectly. After two and a half years of work, the time had come in March 2025: the brand was launched.

From the elegant packaging to the fine atomizer to the personalized tissue paper: their aim with twentysecondofmay is to create a luxurious experience beyond the fragrance.
