The first sprays of “Dangerosa” opens with a blend of spicy elemi resin, Madagascan pink pepper, and Moroccan artemisia. Gradually, the floral side of the composition emerges: Egyptian rose geranium combines fresh, herbaceous accents with osmanthus and rose. While osmanthus brings a fruity, apricot-like warmth, the rose lends the heart a soft note. As the fragrance fades, it gains depth and warmth: guaiac wood leaves a smoky, woody trail, carried by Somali frankincense and rockrose.

The young brand Réserve en Afrique from Dakar views its fragrances as an olfactory tribute to African nature and combines this concept with a commitment to environmental sustainability. Réserve en Afrique was founded by Étienne and his wife Valeria. According to the brand’s narrative, its history dates back to 1934: That was the year Étienne’s grandfather arrived in Senegal from Lebanon, while a nearby forest was designated a nature reserve. The family remained in Senegal and has been closely involved in the conservation of the nature reserve ever since.

The label's first collection, "Afrique Extraordinaire," is dedicated to the landscapes and botanical treasures of Africa, including Madagascan vanilla, Somali opoponax, Nigerian ginger, and Moroccan rose.

In addition to its nature-inspired fragrance concept, the company also emphasizes its commitment to sustainability: According to Réserve en Afrique , five percent of the profits go toward projects in Africa, including in Senegal and Madagascar. The fragrances are based on sugar beet alcohol, contain responsibly sourced and, in some cases, upcycled ingredients, and are free of parabens, phthalates, artificial UV filters, and dyes. According to the brand, it is also vegan, cruelty-free, and listed by PETA.
