Actually, I didn't want to write any more reviews.
Why?
Simply because I had the feeling that nobody really reads them anymore. Especially if they are particularly long. Statements are short, to the point, poetic, without a lot of fuss.
Reviews also have their own charm and I find myself reading one more and more often these days. (Especially the ones with the exciting stories!)

So why a review of THIS fragrance?
Because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to describe the fragrance properly in a statement, hence the review. :)

I was lucky enough to have received a bottling as a gift, sprayed it on, first thought: "hmmm not so bad, but also not so special."
Zack, off to the drawer again.

Now I've developed a certain love for Guerlain for some time, so I had the glorious idea: "Come on, let's unpack the bottle and test it again." - no sooner said than done. (Who says women are complicated, höööö!)

And suddenly, on the second try, it happened, I somehow fell in love with the fragrance. Well, the opening is actually quite alcoholic at first, somehow
But then it develops into a fantastically beautiful, vanilla-powder-soft-leather fragrance.
But there is something else that makes this perfume so unique. Let's be honest, leather and vanilla fragrances are a dime a dozen these days.
(Anyone who would like to object may of course do so!)
However, there is something here that simply sets the fragrance apart, now I could of course guess the "strawflower" note, but it's not just that. It's also the typical Guerlain DNA that some of the house's perfumes have.
And damn, I love them!
Okay, I know I'm exaggerating a bit, but I really like this fragrance.

Now I had received an original manufacturer's sample with a Guerlain order of Cuir Beluga, of course I was really happy, I hadn't thought about a bottle at the time. :)
I sprayed it on and then I was disillusioned

- "Is this still the same fragrance?" -
I was shocked, I dug out the other bottling, sprayed it on the other arm and indeed, there were small and subtle differences
My bottling smelled much smoother, but also more natural and somehow better. The manufacturer's sample was basically the same fragrance, just new - and in a better version.

I rolled my eyes
- Yes, and now what? -
But how lucky I was! A dear Parfumo (thank you at this point!) offered me his bottle and I couldn't believe my eyes, it was the old version (including the pretty box)
Now guess who couldn't say no?

Sometimes it does take a second try.... :)
