Not a lot of pumpkin, but lovely nonetheless
I don't get a lot of pumpkin in Ephemera, but I keep reaching for it anyway. It's such a light, soft, lovely gourmand. It's not too sweet, which I was pleasantly surprised by, because I know Sorce is such a favourite for their gourmand scents.

What I get the most out of this is a soft, lactonic hazelnut, which must be the acorn. There's a very faint whiff of soil and an even fainter one of pumpkin, but what's most surprising is that, after the dry down, I am left with a sweet, nutty marshmallow scent. And not the eye-wateringly sweet, cloying marshmallow versions we've seen in many, many designer perfumes. No, this marshmallow is soft as a whisper.

This scent is incredibly cozy. While I bought it in spring and am wearing it a lot, because we're having a cooler than normal spring, I absolutely can't wait to wear this come autumn. It's going to really shine then. And who knows, maybe as the scent develops (it's quite light in colour now) more of the pumpkin and soil note will come forth.

Either way, this is a really beautiful creation from Sorce and I'm so glad I bought it. Will I buy a full bottle once my 6 ml rollerball runs out? Probably not, but I'm going to enjoy it while I have it.

The bitterest of orange peels
I have no clue what happened with my journey with this fragrance. I smelled it last year in Sephora and liked it. I smelled it this year in Sephora and liked it. It smelled just like orange juice - fruity, photo-realistic orange, fresh, with just enough sweetness to take the edge off.

I wanted an orange scent to enjoy this summer. So, I ordered it during the Sephora sale. And before I even opened the box I could smell it - this acrid, green, camphorous scent on the air. I could feel it in my mouth and on my tongue, and I hadn't even unboxed it yet.

But I did unbox it. And put two sprays on my wrists. And was instantly confused. This was nuclear level strong. My husband and kids found it way too strong (and they're not sensitive to scents) just from being in the same room as me. I couldn't believe it, because all the reviews say it's so faint! Almost a skin scent! It could not be further from the truth for me.

It was way too bitter. But I wasn't going to worry - I wanted to see how it settled after the drydown.

It did NOT get any better. It got quieter, but it was just as acrid. And I'm saying this as someone who enjoys bitter, green scents. This is just non-stop bitterness from start to finish.

I returned it today. I'm still looking for a great orange scent - I need to sniff Tangerine Boy by Phlur and Mandarin Basilic by Guerlain Aqua Allegoria again. But for now, I took advantage of the last day of the sale and bought a bottle of Josie Maran's Topless Tangerine body spray. At $30, I don't care how often I have to reapply.

Way too sweet for a "fresh" perfume
This perfume is trying to do so many things at once--be refreshing, be aquatic, be sweet--and it just feels like a jumbled mess of perfume soup. It smells what I thought "perfume" smelled like when I was younger -- no notes rising to the top, none detectable in and of themselves, just a kind of screechy, sweet, chemical scent.

I know this is a classic and beloved by many, but I'm not a fan. It definitely smells fresh and aquatic, but the sweetness is just way too much. I can't imagine wearing this on a hot day and actually feeling refreshed. Maybe if they cut the sweetness.

Fresh, juicy rose with sweetness
My dear friend bought this for me for the holidays. I was so impressed. Of all the SDJs, I'd say this is the least gourmand leading, but since it's SDJ there is still that element, without a doubt.

My friend knows I love rose scents, and since this is a fresh, sort of juicy rose, and not a powdery one, it's perfect for me. Now that it's spring, I'm reaching for this a lot. I don't think that I'd actually wear this in the hottest days of summer, because it's still just too sweet for that, but it's really nice.

I can also see myself layering this with Lush Guardian of the Forest to make it a bit more earthy and green.

A green, fresh, zingy rose!
This is an inexpensive, lovely, young fresh rose. I love how green and lively it is. Its got decent longevity and sillage. I douse my clothes with this, and my body, and spritz it on my hair!

What I like as well is its not overly powdery like some roses out there.

This layers well with Jo Malone Red Roses and the Covered in Roses Body Cream!!!

Now I am walking around smelling like a romantic rose cloud.
