Ranked Among the Unremarkable
Every now and then, I browse various perfumeries during my city tours to test a fragrance or discover something new. The scents from Jil Sander haven't really impressed me much so far, and unfortunately, I must say that Strictly doesn't change that.
In its defense, I would like to point out that nothing was done wrong with this fragrance. Fresh, spicy, pleasant. But nothing exciting. There are many that are fresh, spicy, and pleasant. You can wear Strictly without hesitation for any occasion. At a party, after sports, or at the award ceremony for the Federal Cross of Merit. You smell it, and shortly after, you forget it again. It doesn't "stick." It doesn't really identify the "wearer."
Many don't want that either. You just want to smell good. Period.
And with Strictly, you smell good. Many people smell good, regardless of whether they are young or old, wearing jeans or pinstripes.
Thus, it ranks among the line of the unremarkable.

A Fragrance for an Endangered Species
In search of a fragrance that stands apart from today's mainstream scents and can clearly be assigned to one gender, I stumbled upon Jacomo di Jacomo.
Uncompromisingly dedicated to the male gender, it is a scent for an endangered species. The first names that come to mind are John Wayne, Telly Savalas, or Sean Connery. Types who embody a rather conservative image of masculinity. Macho, distinctive, somewhat self-absorbed but with a big heart. For "doers," not for "talkers."
Sadly, two of the aforementioned are no longer with us, and the third has, to my regret, withdrawn. Thus, there are not many left of this kind. Of the kind of men who can wear a scent like JdJ and whom you can genuinely believe in when they wear it.
Men who couldn't care less about how others think of them. They walk their own path, even if it means going it alone.
So, JdJ is not for everyone, especially not for boys who are preoccupied with how to make the Lapland aphid inedible for the Finnish ant.

The wheel has not been reinvented
This is my first comment on Parfumo, so please forgive me if I don't find the right words right away, if I can't describe the scent as excellently as most do here, and if I don't know some fragrance pyramids in detail. I also want to describe the scents in a way that readers who can't imagine combinations of, for example, bergamot, lavender, or cedar can understand.
Now, let's talk about Baldessarini's Strictly Private.
It is a scent that is pleasing. However, it is not exactly new. When I first sprayed it, I thought: "I've had this before..." And indeed, it reminded me strongly of Jil Sander's "Background." Only Background was finer, a bit sweeter, and rounder. But the similarity was unmistakable. Images of Africa, of a savanna, flashed before my mind-images that Background used in its advertising back then.
Strictly Private unfolds quickly after spraying, and a somewhat too powdery vanilla, in my opinion, takes center stage. And that might not be to everyone's taste. Personally, I like this scent, but I can imagine that it might not be so welcome in some open-plan offices.
On me, Strictly Private lasts intensely, but not too long. It is a scent for a dinner in a nice restaurant, in stylish clothing, and with pleasant company. I can't really imagine it at a barbecue with friends or on a biker ride through beautiful landscapes. But tastes are so diverse that it is up to each individual.
But as already mentioned, the wheel has not been reinvented.
