30 € vs 300 € with almost the same performance
Intro:
In the summer, I was in Hamburg at Jungfernstieg and visited the Louis Vuitton store. Everyone knows Imagination by now. I wanted to sniff through the range and then stumbled upon LV Météore by chance. At first, the scent didn't grab me. But I noticed that I kept smelling the scent strip at home. And since then, it hasn't let me go. Until now, I have always refrained from shelling out the proud 300€ for a new bottle of Météore at LV. Especially because I thought, "Not another freshie in my collection."
Then I came across this one. I have had no experience with Khadlaj's fragrances so far. When I bought the Shiyaaka Snow for just under 30 €, my expectations were not high. I have a mixed opinion about dupes in general. Usually, I prefer to stick with the original scents, as they often have more depth and are more balanced.
Comparison:
What can I say? The Shiyaaka Snow does its job. The opening is very close to the original. The drydown is also very, very similar to the original. Top notes of citrus, then floral accords, all underpinned by a light spiciness, pepper, and vetiver. The similarity on my skin is about 90%, and for a 1:1 dupe, it's really very good. For an outsider, it will be hardly recognizable whether one has reached for Météore or Shiyaaka Snow. However, those who have been in the scent game longer will notice subtle differences in the close-to-skin area. The original has the different nuances more finely worked out, and individual notes are easier to "detect." The Shiyaaka Snow is overall a bit duller. But that is more the norm with dupes. Furthermore, the original has better longevity on my skin. I applied both scents and then took a shower. The LV Météore remains perceptible close to the skin. The Shiyaaka Snow slowly runs out of steam.
Conclusion:
30 € scent twin to 300 € LV scent, with almost the same performance is a no-brainer for me. With the 270 €, I can take my girlfriend out to dinner, go shopping, and fill up the tank. And in the end, I still smell like Météore . .

When "His Confession" and "Dior Homme Intense" Get Married
Introduction: First of all, I want to say that I only bought a decant. Not the full bottle. I do not regret this decision at all. Not because the scent doesn’t smell good, but because I already have His Confession by Lattafa and Dior Homme Intense (2011).
Best of both worlds?: The fragrance combines for me a dry powderiness with a slight sweetness, light floral hints, and woody accords in the base. From my perspective, it draws from the Dior Homme Intense drawer and captures the lipstick vibe. At the same time, it also takes on the sweetness from His Confession. This makes the scent both sexy and slightly playful, preventing it from coming across as too serious and formal. For me, the fragrance is warm.
My conclusion is: For everyone who likes elegance. Perfect for autumn and winter. The scent enjoys the evening and feels particularly comfortable on dates or for hours spent together. But it also performs solidly at outdoor events, like the Christmas market. In the office, it feels a bit too much for me. The fragrance doesn’t have a special twist and is very linear in its development from start to finish. It becomes warmer towards the end and loses the lipstick-like dryness a bit, in my opinion. Longevity and sillage are good for the price.
Would I get the full bottle?: No. In my view, it’s not worth it. However, for those who neither have His Confession nor Dior Homme Intense, it’s worth testing.

Price Gouging de Marly - Initially Disappointed, Later Convinced
I’ll be honest, when I first sprayed the fragrance, I thought to myself, "Okay, this is pretty boring for a Parfums de Marly." I am aware that Parfums de Marly is more designer in terms of scent than classic "niche." But here I was very surprised that the character of Castley has such a strong designer touch. And that at such a high price. Since I already have Sedley, the topic of Castley was quickly settled for me. A citrusy-peppery freshie with woody and floral accords. If you have the minty-woody Sedley, it doesn't really wow you. Topic closed.
BUT then the fragrance somehow grabbed me anyway. I stood in front of my Parfums and thought, "No need to overthink it today, just quickly spray something on." You really should give it time and wear it more often. Not because it doesn’t smell good and you need to get used to it. But because it surprises with its simplicity and especially its really very good longevity and sillage. The fragrance has brought me many compliments in a short time. And what excites me even more is that I perceive the scent on myself and also on my clothing for longer than with Sedley. The wheel is certainly not being reinvented. But the fragrance is well-balanced and doesn’t hit any wrong notes. A "no-brainer" and also a blind buy candidate.
HOWEVER, there is a major drawback. And that for me is the price. Not because the price is unusual for Parfums de Marly. But as already mentioned, Castley has no niche character. In my view, it has even significantly less niche character than its brothers (Sedley, Greenley, etc.). It is perfectly suited for the masses and especially for all situations. Basically, you can hardly go wrong with this fragrance. You will always smell pleasant and clean. However, I can achieve that with various other freshies from designer houses as well.

The Dior Sauvage Parfum Became Too Boring for Me
I had the Dior Sauvage as a perfume for a while before. Unfortunately, the scent became unbearable for me, as I simply smelled it around every corner. Therefore, I wanted to try something new and just took a sample of the Elixir from the perfume shop. And what can I say? The scent really has something to offer and is not yet in "every nose," and still a bit more unique than its brother, the Dior Sauvage Parfum. The longevity and sillage are really very strong. For me, the scent has many facets. You can definitely smell the original Sauvage a bit. However, with a proper dose of spice, licorice, and something slightly mysterious. For me, it's a totally great scent that has already brought me many compliments. Theoretically, it can also work in summer, as long as you don't overdo it with the sprays - more than 2 I find already too overpowering. More suited for the colder days.
