The Symphony of the Lion
Rare are the times when a fragrance comes around and sweeps me off my feet and has me coming back for more, again and again.
This is one of those.

The first time I tried it when it first came out in 2019/2020 I was completely repulsed by it and yet, I couldn’t stop smelling it. I wasn’t ready for this Lion.

Now, a few years and 1000+ smells later, I fell head over heels.

The sparkling opening with an amazing bergamot and lemon blast is breathtaking.
However this sparkle is just there to tame the HUGE throbbing punch of smoky, sticky Labdanum that comes surprisingly and powerfully right along the opening stomping the beautiful citrus pop.

The heart is cold, regal, austere and quite proud.
A resinous yet cold cold incense along with the Labdanum and a benzoin nuance.

Now the base… warm, cozy yet powerful. Sticky, resinous yet powdery. A warm blanket of vanilla and benzoin covering what could be a harsh bed of patchouli and a leather impression, if it wasn’t expertly curated by Chanel.

Because yes, even though this deviates from the usual Chanel format we know and love - it also doesn’t.

It has most definitely that Chanel thing.
The oh so elegant soft, powdery, aldehydic presence and an inimitable blend.

Le Lion, an homage to Coco Chanel's zodiac sign.

And what an homage this is!
Pulling together some of the best elements of the greats: the creamy amber patchouli of Coromandel, the smoky leathery aspects of Cuir de Russie, the cold incense heart of 22 EDT/1932 or 31 Rue Cambon; and a far sight of Guerlain’s Shalimar with that citrus pop that settles to that glorious Labdanum and vanilla; while not being close to any and having a marked personality.

It's almost like an orchestra, a symphony of every Chanel fragrance playing a perfectly tuned Masterpiece composition.

Not for the faint of heart. Not for everyone. For me.

Carnal coziness
A warm hug. Cuddling with your cat. A comfy blanket. Home.
This is how I always felt about this timeless Masterpiece by Maurice Roucel par Frederic Malle.

It manages to be cozy, warm, enveloping but also carnal, sensual, s*xual.

Granted, the Musc aspect of this scent is no longer what it used to be due to regulations and so on.
But there’s still a feisty touch!

“A torrid perfume. A true weapon of seduction.” - as described by the brand.

Torrid is a perfect word for it. This almost literally warms me up everytime I spray it on.

I just love how the heavy vanilla, tonka and spices, grounded by this magical bed of musks are perfectly counter-balanced by an airiness; that fine touch of French perfumery that makes everything oh so classy, elegant, lighter, ultimately wearable.

Joyful Rock'n'Roll
This was pretty much love at first sniff.

A “bright” Rockstar fragrance

What do I mean by this?
A very easy to like, dare I say, mass appealing, kick*ss rockstar from the 60/70s.

I really love what the legendary Black Sabath guitarrist Tony Iommi and Sergio Momo were able to create here

Monkey Special - in homage to Tony’s Gibson Guitar

This is essentially a caramel patchouli with a delicious boozy opening with passion fruit and rum, and rosy nuances throughout.

This feels so rich. Complex.
I just love the way it acts on my skin and develops through the day.
And it sure has legs to make you company through the entire day and then some!

Iommi “Monkey Special” truly is something special!

The "Blue Beast" Perfected - and Tamed
Loved this one since it first touched my skin, when I first tested it back when it came out.

What a stunning fragrance this is!

I’ve always liked the original Interlude. But this one… this one just did it for me.

The way the orris butter and slight dry sweetness round the beautiful but sometimes rough and assertive resins, incense, oud, leather and the infamous oregano; just make this one perfect to my taste.

I truly can’t get my nose off this when I put it on.
Simply mesmerising

Straight Forward but Special Vanilla-Tobacco
This was a long time coming
Herod was love at first sniff when I tested it about 2/3 years ago!
I finally got it now and my love for it only grew in the meantime.

This one just fits me like a glove. It’s just perfect to me.

So smooth, round, intoxicating, mysterious, alluring, enveloping.

It’s truly special to me.
The peachy nuances from the osmanthus and the cold incense touches do it for me.

What could be just another (great at that) vanilla and tobacco fragrance, it’s heightened by these little details.

The opening also really catches your nose with the cold incense-like pepper and the warmth of the cinnamon, managing to do this in an ultra smooth way.

I just love how it makes me feel and how it smells and that’s more than enough to me.

Truly special tobacco fragrance.
