ROGUE/ABSOLUE DE MOUSSE .

To begin this article we must present ROGUE in case you are not aware of this niche artisanal perfumery based in Idaho Falls, USA.

The first thing you read when you go on the site of the perfumery is that the production comes in small -batch. And the perfumes are artisanal. This means that this perfumery is keen on creating niche perfumes for the fun of creation and their likes and perfumes are not for the masses. Few loyal fans for ROGUE is probably the best number of fans.
The packaging is smart, it reminds me of American printing art from the fourties- fifties. The perfumes are unique. To keep the quality standards up the batches are a small number. This means you might have to wait a bit if the perfume you order is expected in a new batch. These requirements make the quality of the perfumes very high and artisanal. Rogue is not keen to please the masses.
Absolue de mousse.

The word mousse in French does not represent the famous dessert only but it is also the French word for moss. The new parfum is a follow up of the perfume Mousse Illuminée Now ROGUE goes to the absolut version of the notes of the successful and popular perfume and creates a new mousse perrfume where the key note is musk and moss. It's a resinous, balsamic floral musk. Personally I find it very appealing as I love resins and flowers. And I love the art of Musk perfumes, citrusy opening, flowers, herbs, woods or resins or both and musk and oak moss as a key note in the base.

So here are the notes: Oak moss , tree moss, bergamot, artemisia (absinthe), clary sage, spikenard root (nard root),rose, orange blossom (bitter orange flowers), nutmeg, labdanum, olibanum, myrrh and musk. The result is wild and bright, certain notes are totally green but carry an animalic musk profile and these are the treemoss and the spikenard root. Olibanum, labdanum and Oak moss carry vanillic nuances throughout the composition and lift the perfume up to the bright light of the sun. To me the perfume is a deep forest musk that travels towards the direction of where the sunlight is through the dense, deep green foliage of the forest.
