Oriental spice bomb with ingenious P/L ratio
The Elixir of Varens I discovered here while browsing the Varens fragrances, just like the "blue" brother d'Orient Nomad. I have already reviewed the latter, I like it very much. In this country, both fragrances are difficult to get. If you don't mind higher shipping costs, you can get them from abroad. I was lucky enough to get hold of both in a German online shop, for just 17€. Niche at a ridiculous price.

To the flacon I can report basically the same as with the Nomad. Red 100 ml bottle with golden inscription and chrome-like cap. Although I find the blue flanker somehow nicer, but is a matter of taste. Red is finally also not a repulsive color and also fits quite well to the Orient.

In the Elixir 8 ingredients were processed, 3 more than in the Nomad. But here too, quantity is not everything or not decisive for the war. Start does the Elixir with spicy-sweet cardamom, accompanied by citrus and spicy notes. Cinnamon is clearly noticeable here. The lemon peel goes perfectly with the spices and ensures that the sweet-spicy composition is not as oppressive as initially feared. Sure it's sweet, which is fitting for an Oriental. Cardamom and cinnamon dominate for a long time, the lemon ebbs away relatively quickly. Vetiver is only subtly perceptible. The fading lemon is replaced by some woods, which underlines the oriental character. With the woods, some amber also makes an appearance. In my opinion, all ingredients are weighted quite appropriately, only the lemon could have lingered longer in this chord.

The durability is more than decent with 8-9 hours, the sillage quite strong. Two, maximum three sprays should definitely be enough here. I find the Elixir can also be worn gladly by women. Seems to me rather unisex than masculine. In everyday life, I would not wear the rather, he is too special in my opinion. Best for going out, at (not only oriental) weddings or in the evening hours in the summer, when it gets cooler. There comes a flair of 1001 nights on. I can also imagine it as a good winter scent, because of the cinnamon note. Basically a very solid and attractive oriental fragrance from Varens. However, I still find the Nomad better. You should get both, the ladies can go for the Elixir. As mentioned, both are available for almost free, although not so often in Deztschland.

The oriental clean, this time sweet and spicy
And again, I'm hauled fully into the notch of a very liked by me fragrance genre, the essences from the Orient. Ulric de Varens is quite present as a drugstore fragrance, delivers at one point or another solid copies for a good price. While researching the Varens fragrances, I came across the two oriental scents in the range. The "blue" d'Orient Nomad and the "red" Elixir. Here, of course, it is primarily about the Nomad. In Germany you can hardly get these two fragrances at the moment (because probably the niche of the niche). Nevertheless, I got hold of one each from a not too well known online perfume shop. Total with delivery 17€ for both, that can be seen and heard.

Both flacons are identical, only the colors and names distinguish them. The Nomad is held in a beautiful blue, with golden inscription. The lid in "chrome" blue. The sprayer works very well and is shiny gold in color. Fits very well with the oriental flair. Visually and haptically really very successful, surprising for the price.

Now to the inner values of the Nomad. Only 5 ingredients? As is well known, it is not the quantity that matters here, but the quality. And this is sensationally good. The apple and saffron provide here for a very clean-spicy and strangely slightly fresh opening. Slightly similar to washing powder but in a positive sense. Have you been to any of the local supermarkets on holiday in Turkey? Just like the washing powder smell there in the store, that's pretty much exactly how the Nomad's opening smells. Quickly, the sweet tonka and vanilla tip into the "washing powder", which really sends the cleaner in the oriental direction. And what gets washed so beautifully? Leather, the fifth and final note in Nomad. A really well done and necessary component in the fragrance that works very well with the tonka and vanilla. Leather is also the component that adds a touch of heaviness to the fragrance. To my sensibilities, there is a two stage progression in this fragrance. First the apple and saffron (more saffron than apple) and then the sweet notes with leather blending with apple and saffron.

Overall, a very nice oriental that not only smells like 1001 Nights, but also maintains a certain clean character. And that for almost gift. The durability is solid with 8 hours, the sillage above average. It suits winter, spring and fall in my opinion. In summer, I would only wear it in the evening when going out. As an everyday fragrance it is perhaps too "different", you have to try it out. Nomad is more for men. Of course it is not written in any law that the ladies of the guild are not allowed to wear it. It's just that, in my opinion, the scent wouldn't suit women. The Elixir, whose review will follow very soon, is rather unisex. This one would suit women as well. Just try both fragrances, they are not expensive, there is not much to lose here. You'll have to see if you can get the scents in DE. I find both good, whereby the "blue" Nomad has the nose in front with me

The "I've smelled that before" effect..
The title of my review already indicates that here is equal to a Crowdpleaser "taken apart". Basically, I find Rasasis fragrances quite good, Hawas is here an absolute positive example. Also cost-wise everything is pleasant here. I became aware of the Daarej here while probing the Rasasi fragrances. Various reviews read and ordered. Was almost gift.

The bottle with its purple liquid I still find very attractive, clear glass in a slightly star-shaped mount with nice lettering. Purple and sweet, that should fit together?

Indeed, the Daarej starts more spicy than sweet, the cardamom and cumin give a nice concert in the top notes. The rose makes the drummer and provides a slightly tart note. The iris on the other hand mingles with the crowd, unfortunately it is faint to smell out. Not like the iris in Prada L'Homme. So I can't agree with some of the comparisons to Prada, unfortunately. Now with the tonka bean, musk and vanilla, cute stage dancers come out for a cloying finish. I've had this exact progression on my nose somewhere before. I'm sure it was a body lotion or shower gel (although the latter tend to come out fresher). Maybe an even cheaper drugstore scent? I can't remember. Anyway, for me, it's a completely ordinary scent. Not that it's bad, no. It is suitable for everyday use. But it lacks that certain something. Something is not quite enough at the Daarej.

The durability is really good (7-8 hours on the skin), the sillage is not weak but also not overwhelming. Overall, you can enjoy the Daarej as an oriental-spicy-sweet fragrance. For the masses, it will not meet with rejection. You can see that in many comments here in the forum. With me, he comes unfortunately in the souk, because I will use him, despite its everyday suitability, far too little.

Yummy tasty
I have had Insurrection II Wild on my list for so long. Thanks to a great swap with a very nice Parfumo I have this fragrance now in my ranks. The fragrance as new costs as well known not the world, although he was a few years ago even cheaper. Apparently it lives pretty well as a "Pure Havane" twin :) .
Previously I had had a test sniff of the Wild, I liked it quite a bit then. A full-fledged review, however, I wanted to write only when I own the bottle. Now it is so far.

To the flacon I would like to lose here - as with almost all my other reviews - a few sentences. Brown it is held, suggests a gourmand sweet almost, 90 ml content and high for a flanker. The cap as well as the font label on the side in gold. The label on the side is poorly glued, partly detaches without giving up completely. But seems to be the case with many bottles of Insurrection. The sprayer is so lala, but does not play the main role here.

The main character in this film is the fragrance. Basically, four scents dominate here for me: Tobacco, Honey, Vanilla, and Cocoa. All yummy stuff. I don't notice much of the earthy patchouli, oddly enough. The scent also seems to have very little progression to speak of. Top notes come in, vanilla and cocoa mingle. Somehow I also detect cherry, though none of that is supposed to be in there. The sweet vanilla tobacco lingers for a very long time. And what can I say, I think that's a good thing. The components are well balanced, nothing stings, weighs heavy or overwhelms you. The sweetness is round and pleasant, I think you can wear it up to 28 degrees in the summer. Gladly also in the evening to go out.

The sillage is solid without overpowering the outside world, the durability with 8 hours as well. I had also once tested the Pure Havane, this is in terms of H+S still a step higher to settle than the Insurrection II Wild. All in all, a very tasty fragrance that provokes some compliments, for relatively little dough. For people who didn't get the Pure Havane, feel free to grab this one. Absolutely recommendable.

In the flowery-sweet Orient without Nightflight (Nightflight)
As a fan and almost advocate of oriental fragrances, I came across the "Badar" from the house of Al Haramain in the course of my search for a twin to the now discontinued "Joop Nightflight". Because of the "Signature Blue" (BdC clone) by Haramain, which I also reviewed and which I like very much, my expectations for Badar were almost boundlessly enormous, especially as a supposed Nightflight dupe. For pretty cheap money (12€ / 30ml), as they say in the Ruhrpott, I ordered the Badar.

The OVP is the price according to very simple, literally resembles a cigarette box with thin plastic edging inside. The bottle is ordinary, the cap with screw cap (there are indeed rare) made of plastic. The perfume oil shimmers slightly yellowish in the transparent bottle. Perfume oil? Yes, actually an oil with roll-on instead of a conventional sprayer.

Let's slowly get to the contents of the Badar. Night flight yes or no? Well, the opening of the Badar starts floral-sweet with a faint fresh note. The rose and lavender bloom here with a few blobs of honey and a dry slice of bergamot. The bergamot is unfortunately a bit submerged among the florals here. In contrast to Nightflight, the pineapple is noticeably missing here, which is a shame, the fresh fruity note would have done very well here. Instead, more flowers follow in the heart note, including again (!) the rose. In my opinion, I had enough of that in the top note. The pineapple could have been added here. This one in particular would have brought Badar quite a bit closer to Nightflight. Still, the transition from top to heart notes conjures up a veil that is at least somewhat reminiscent of the original. In the base, musk and woods are perceptible, for me a quite round, pleasant finish without the oriental sweetness abzusoßen.

The perfume oil holds here against all expectations not too long, about 6-7 hours is on my skin closing time. Normally oils (especially from the Orient) can be significantly longer. The sillage is acceptable, I think better so. Especially oriental fragrances tend to fill whole rooms with their sweetness, which not everyone finds so great. All in all, a solid floral-sweet oriental that goes quite well in spring. As a lover of such fragrances, you will not be disappointed here, especially for the price. As Erhoffer of a Nightflight-Dupes against it already something. This simply lacks the pineapple and a shot more bergamot.

Nevertheless, not badly done Al Haramain!
