The Best Lost Tribe
I recently blind-bought a full bottle of Pan's Labyrinth by Lost Tribe, and I am completely blown away by it. I had high expectations, and it exceeded them.
Pan's Labyrinth opens with a beautiful powdery almond, salty ambergris, and other powdery notes. Some say the opening smells like powdery baby wipes, which I can see, but to me, it's great.
Over time, the scent gets even better with the addition of lavender, rose, and patchouli. These accords are blended so perfectly that it is hard to make out each note. Eventually, it dries down to a base of Malayan oud, musk, and other woody notes. The oud in this is very high quality and adds a unique edge that some other fougere fragrances lack.
This is easily the best Lost Tribe I have tried to date, and one of my favorite fragrances I have ever smelled. Mathew and Rajesh did a wonderful job with this, and I cannot wait to wear this now that I have a full bottle. This fragrance makes for the perfect signature scent that works well year-round.
Top-Tier Gourmand
Audition by Phronema Perfumes is an extremely cozy and beautiful gourmand. It is my favorite offering from Phronema next to No Longer Human and Souichi's Selfish Curse. I have gone through my entire sample of this and currently have a full bottle on the way in the mail.
Audition opens with a beautiful waxy blast of honey and cocoa. As time goes on, soft raspberry and vanilla notes emerge and blend perfectly with the strong honey and cocoa. I also detect orris butter, cinnamon, and tonka bean as well. The combination of all of these notes results in what I believe is one of the best gourmand fragrances on the market and one that you have to try if you are a gourmand lover.
A Nostalgic Classic
Salted Green Mango is one of my favorite fragrances I own and have tried. There's something about it that is extremely nostalgic and comforting to me. It reminds me of my summer trips to Florida when I was younger.
It opens with a beautiful ripe mango and lime, and as it develops, it gets salty and dry from the vetiver, seaweed, and salt. The spiciness and greeness is super unique and enjoyable, and while it is hit or miss for some people, I personally love it.
I believe this is the best offering from Strangers Parfumerie, and a fragrance I will repurchase for as long as it's available.
