For witchy, whimsical girls with grit
I associate this with my friend Ash, who incidentally put me onto Lush fragrances as a whole. Her uniform consists of blouses, hand-made linen skirts that hit her ankles, mary janes, and Lord of Misrule. When she wears this, you can smell her before you can see her. LoM is pure spiced magic, and extremely comforting. Someone said it smells mischievous and friendly, and they hit the nail on the head. It's her in a bottle. I find it to be pretty linear, which is not a complaint. Each facet of this fragrance hugs you and sticks around to the end. This can only be convincingly pulled off by witchy, whimsical girls with grit. Namby-pambies: get lost.
It's called Lord of Misrule for a reason!

Give it to your 15-year-old sister!
I love a gourmand fragrance, but I think they need to have some kind of sultry depth or darkness to them in order for them to work for me. Vanilla Haze is airy and subtle. Soft and warm. Hazy. Lol. Not very me. However, it's perfect for my sister. She was delighted to take my near-full bottle off my hands. I don't regret the purchase, but maybe I just lucked out with a sister who is somehow the perfect fit for all of the purchases I make in partial error. We are both lucky girls!
Waterboarded by Squash
One of the worst things I've ever smelled. It's like someone mixed the squash concentrate they serve you in children's soft play areas with a halloween bucket full of cheap candy. If you're into that, you'll love it because all I had to do was spritz it on my wrist once to be struck with nausea that lasted hours.
For Gamine Lumberjacks
When Eidesis was released I had a short spiky haircut, bad acne on my cheeks, and exclusively donned a fitted leather jacket, black midi skirt, and knee high boots with a square toe. I bought it because it smelled like someone had condensed my essence into a tiny bottle. Gorgeously spicy with a slight creaminess. Just wish it was louder and lasted longer since it's ten trillion racks for 50ml. I'm only compelled to repurchase it because my friend now works at Aesop and can get it at a discount. I wouldn't bother otherwise.
Parma Violets
Soft and dry. Sugary. Something I’d gravitate towards at bedtime but it's so clean and sweet I'd wear it during the day too. There’s something faintly artificial smelling about it (parma violets spring to mind) but it doesn’t bother me. Kind of like being given a really good hug by someone you feel ambivalent towards. The more I wear it the more I love it.
