I just recently fell in love with this combination of notes, does anyone else have fragances that they enjoy that carry these notes? I'll post some that I've sampled.
Hunting for buttery Iris (orris butter) fragrance
Hi! I'm relatively new to fragrance exploration. Do you guys have suggestions for a buttery velvety iris? The one I have been enamored with has been Guerlain Iris Pallida 6. Iris Malikhân wasn't for me, a little "sharp" for my taste. Undecided on Prada Infusion d'Iris (still testing.) Dior Homme parfum (the current one) starts BEAUTIFUL but gets a little weird and sweet? for me in the middle. Jusbox Visionary eye is nice. Would love to get some ideas, thanks!
Mysterious and dark iris fragrances
I find myself more drawn to dark and mysterious iris scents more latley, fragances that are resinsous earthy and have more depth. What are some of your favorites? I've listed a few of mine below.
Which is the better iris scent?
Hello everybody! I've actually been a big iris fan, since I tried Dior Homme Intense (2011). So, I've got some candidates. Which one is the best in your opinion? Harmonious Irisss Iris Fauve Apollonia The Omniscient Mister Thompson
Soapy, sharp iris?
Hi all, I feel like I've posted this question in other venues and keep thinking this can't be all there is, surely I'm missing something! I figured an iris lovers' group may be able to assist: So, a long while back, I made the grave error of visiting a Chanel boutique and trying out Les Exclusifs. I wound up in love with / buying Sycomore, because I'm also a vetiver and smoke fan. I really thought I'd be into Cuir de Russie or Bel Respiro or Le Lion, but no... Instead, 1957 caught me off guard: all the soapy aldehydes you'd associate with Chanel, but with this fabric-like texture, luxurious French milled soap, and a sharp, un-bubblegum, un-lipstick, un-sweet iris accord with a little cedar in the background. It struck me as urban, concrete, 5-star hotel but brutalist and full of gigantic glass windows. I liked it enough that the associate knew: you get samples with purchases like that, so both of them were 1957, hehe. I've retained a drop or two...Unfortunately, my wife wasn't into 1957. (I can't pull off the truly unisex-leaning or feminine-leaning stuff with her, and she's important!) So were I to buy something like this, it would be a "I like this on my wrist on a weird day off" purchase, and that is absolutely not what that sky-high price allows for. So I searched, and searched, and searched for a sharp, soapy scent, preferably with iris. So far, I know: - Prada L'Homme is too sweet and patchouli-bolstered. It's more cloudy to me than concrete, metallic, soapy. - Ralph's Club Elixir is something I love for what it is - waxy, leathery, orris butter with a side of woodsiness. It's an entirely different, very informal vibe, it doesn't replace 1957's functionality.- Zara Elegantly Tokyo and the Elixir have that nice soapiness to them, but way too much jasmine, and a kind of jasmine I'm not into. I have a bottle, for some rare occasion where I'm alright with this, but it's not up to snuff.- The "your skin but better" unisex popular ones: Dedcool Xtra Milk, Commodity Milk, Glossier You, 11:11, Not a Perfume: No to all of these. Too sweet or too fruity or any kind of lactonic and it's not for me. I think I do need iris for this to work!- Acqua Universalis Forte: Too citrusy. - Creed Green Irish Tweed: Look, I like this one, but if there's iris in here it's in a guest star role.-Dior Homme Parfum: Interesting chemical take on iris with a lot of other stuff. But it's not that.-Dior Homme Intense, Gucci Guilty Absolu de Parfum: Waxy, sweet orris butter, not the same kind of thing.-Narciso Rodriguez Bleu Noir: Bubblegum and citrus, nowhere near it.Things I can't reliably find to try out but I know about: - Comme des Garcons Marseille and Concrete- Prada Infusion d'Iris Cedre (I liked d'Homme back in the day. Can't find a sample for the life of me for this supposedly new update)Any ideas from this wonderful crew? Thanks!
Favorite irises for HOT weather??
I'm in Western North Carolina, and the weather is starting to turn humid and HOT! Not my favorite type of weather, but my favorite time to wear fragrances! I'm the kind of person who definitely wears certains fragrances depending on the season. And my warm weather frags are my fave!!! Gimme all the florals! My favorite irises to wear during summer are...1) Tears of Iris - Gucci (wonderful citrusy, powdery iris)2) Fleur de Peau - Diptyque (sparkling aldehydic musky iris)3) Studied - Liis (carroty iris with juicy pear)4) Tears - Regime des Fleurs (iris as a supporting note to the gorgeous aquatics/lilac!)5) Ilio - Diptyque (citrusy desert iris with jasmine)
Welcome iris lovers!
Just wanted to say hello! I'm Liz, and I'm an iris fanatic. I have lots of iris/orris in my collection, and I'm always looking for the next best powdery/rooty scent! I'd love for this to be the group where we can share our love for this purple flower. I'm adding in a photo of my most recent iris scent that I added to my collection, which is Trimerous by Jorum Studio. What's your most recent iris addition?
