Dito!! Smile

Let me chime in with another nerdy piece: Xavier de Maistre plays Boïeldieu, concerto in C major for harp & orchestra.

Shall be listening to him live, soon-ish, when he performs with Lucero Tena: youtu.be/5k_ix0Ya2Y4

Never heard of the composer, and my first thought was, "How is this not Mozart?" Then I consulted my friend, the Google, and discovered that Boieldieu is affectionately known as the French Mozart, so that cleared everything up. Lucky you, seeing XdM live. Smile

It was a delight! XdM is my favourite contemporary harpist. His collaboration is cool and the concert hall (Pierre Boulez Saal), done by Gehry, features excellent acoustics. Smile

Glad it turned out to be a hit! Smile

That miniature concert hall is brilliant. Don't I wish we had something similar here. A lot of our chamber music is performed in old churches, which usually sounds stellar, but the reverb can get out of hand, esp. if there's brass involved. I once heard Fanfare for the Common Man performed in a church and my hearing has never been the same.

House cleaning = 1970s funk and soul! (It's the best way to make a dreary task fun.)

Nice! Kapustin's music is the perfect mash-up of classical and jazz.

Listening to Bruckner's Apocalyptic.

Haha, 'mash-up' is especially true in this case, Kapustin obviously hitting a few more/other keys in some parts Smile Perhaps not polished and differentiated enough as the performances by other people, but I prefer listening to the interpretation by the original composer.
For Bruckner and that piece in particular, it's fun imagining how it must have sounded to the people back then.

For an easier listening, the earlier pure instrumental pieces by Lúnasa, Solas and Flook
Lúnasa - Morning Nightcap

Solas - Coconut dog/morning dew

I love that song! I was just listening to it while working out this morning.

Right now I'm listening to The Rolling Stones' latest CD, "Blue & Lonesome". It's pretty good!
