The Cabin in the Woods was very good. Even if you don't like horror movies, it is worth checking out.

I really enjoyed, THE MUSIC NEVER STOPPED, based on a true story of a young man who left home and his parents didn't hear from him for 20 years. His parents find him in a hospital in dire straits. I thought it was a beautiful piece of work.

As a big Steve Zahn fan... I really liked, CALVIN MARSHALL, on Netflix Streaming.

An indie flick I thought was really well done was, TARGET PRACTICE on Netflix Streaming.

THE DESCENDANTS with George Clooney was a tough watch...felt terrible for Clooney's character, but was a good piece of work.

On Wednesday I saw Tae Guk Gi (The Brotherhood of War)
It's a South Korean Film About Two Brothers During the
Korean War If your Scremish Over Violent Movies I
Recommend you to Skip this One It's very Intense and
Very Graphic *It Makes Saving Private Ryan Look like Sesame Street*
Compare To This but it has a Beautiful Well Written Story Line
it's just about the Nature of War and it's Effects

Remakes are usually pretty wretched, aren't they?

Saw Excalibur recently and it was so fantastic.

REIGN OVER ME

I saw it when it first came out, but just saw it again on TV recently.

I was already a big fan of Don Cheadle (a master of subtlety and versatility), but one Mr. Adam Sandler blew my mind in this one. I'm not a fan of his pure (and sophomoric) comedies, but here, as a dramatic actor, this is obviously his true calling.

That one scene outside the therapist's office should go down in history as one of the purest moments in cinematic history, alongside any of our greatest actors' best.

W.E.

Nevermind that this film invited derision because of Madonna's invlovement, I really enjoyed it.

Velvet Playground

A fascinating homage to glam rock that held my attention the whole time - no mean feat I can assure you Smile

Loved the visuals and the soundtracks in both these films.

Well I spent a very delightful Sunday morning watching the wonderful Cary Grant and the enchanting Irene Dunn in "My Favourite Wife"

Such a classy comedy.

Dlane1953:
The Life of Pi. A beautiful and haunting story that will pull you in from the first moment. Powerful, beautiful, fierce, and full of love as well. Life in a nutshell, life as legend and mythology. I still have dreams about some of these movie images.

That sounds wonderful! It just went on my list of things to see.

We recently watched:

The American (with George Clooney)

and

Public Enemies (with Johnny Depp)

---
my take:

The American was cinematographically nice, but not the greatest film in terms of plot, ideas, etc. The key scene involved Clooney having "life-transforming" sex with a prostitute. (Seriously. Rolling Eyes)

Public Enemies was quite suspenseful and well paced--no need even to divide into two pieces (2 hours and 20 minutes), so that means a lot in and of itself. It's about John Dillinger and the FBI.

Cool
