This is for Shalimar Ode a la Vanille (Madagascar)..just like I said in my review....
www.youtube.com/watch?v=9muzyOd4Lh8

I don't know Shalimar Ode a la Vanille at all, but listening to Nights In White Satin makes me imagine in a synesthetic way it is a very rich vanilla.
Yes, it certainly is a lovely rich vanilla...and it was so strange that this song came to mind!
<@Coutureguru...love"20@Coutureguru...love your choices! The stripper was such a wonderful choice) What a good match! Cool

SHALIMAR 11 years ago
This piece I felt this whole symphonic work resonated to the luxurious depth and richness of the vintage Shalimar I smelled on my mother years ago.....So very exotically beautiful in my heart.

SCHERAZADE Symphonic Suite by Rimsky Korsakov
Chicago Symphony Orchestra - 1960
Conductor - Fritz Reiner

The Chicago's brass and wind section play gloriously throughout, and the final movement of Scheherazade (we learn from the original producer [1960] in an accompanying essay) was recorded in one take--an almost unheard-of feat. This fast movement is taken at breakneck speed, with no loss of clarity or power, with the strings in the hands of magicians.

The second mv't is what gets me all 'Shalimar'ed' with the solos... One of those pieces I would have loved to have been at the premiere of; must have been magical.

I don't know if the reverse is allowed, but I was listening the 2nd track from Corelli's Christmas Concerto. Christmas concerns a baby in a manger, so I picked a fragrance with hay: "Bigarade Concentrée". It also has bright citrus and rose.

Off Topic - Like I have suggested before to Apicius,
if the URL of the Video showed inside this composing box (instead on cluttered YouTube with all the side posts), the viewers would have a gorgeous impression.
Just a URL line is very scientific.

I think that's a great idea Pipette.
So are people providing matches of perfume and music, or are we daisy-chaining, answering the person before us with a song, and then providing a perfume for the next person to provide a video for?
I believe Apicius started the thread by simply matching great perfumes with great music.

So, if you sniff a perfume ... and a certain piece of music comes to your mind, or

vice versa, if you hum a great tune, and that would bring to mind a certain perfume,

like that.

The only improvement I would suggest, like the Fragrantica software has the tools,

SHOW THE PERFUME AS AN IMAGE
and
SHOW THE VIDEO AS A VISUAL IMAGE

That makes a great inviting thread.

Debussy - Les sons et les parfums tournent dans l'air du soir

BTW: Perfumeshrine relates this piece of music to L'Heure Bleue

Here is a little hommage to the brand (Designer S*****) that ran into a copyright issue over their name. Each perfume picture contains another version of this funny tune. Choose your favorite!
