frankincense and myrrh 0

It seems I can’t find any feminine perfume with those notes, I would like to smell like a church, any suggestions?

Hi @Kiora ! 💖 I unfortunately haven't tested a fragrance that smells like church, so I don't have personal recommendations. Hopefully others will!

But if you want to search Parfumo for fragrances that include both frankincense and myrrh, on a desktop computer:

1) click on the search bar at the top of any Parfumo page
2) click on the small arrow on the right that appears; this will take you to the "Advanced Search" page
3) click on "Fragrance Notes" on the left column for it to expand
4) type "frankincense" into the "Include fragrance note" field, and hit enter when the note pops up
5) repeat this step for "myrrh"
6) since you said you wanted something "feminine", you can also select "Gender" at the top and "Style" (the "Women" slider button) down below
6) click on the "show perfumes" button at the bottom to view your custom search results!

Here's what I found for you, when following these steps: https://www.parfumo.com/s_perf... Hope this helps, good luck! 😊💖

(I did see this review for a fragrance that might be along the lines of what you're looking for: Take Me to ChurchTake Me to Church / https://www.parfumo.com/Perfum...)

Have you tried anything from Filippo Sorcinelli? Very churchy ... guess since he dresses the Pope and all that 😁

La Liturgie des HeuresLa Liturgie des Heures definitely fits the church vibe.

Maybe Opus XII - Rose IncenseOpus XII - Rose Incense it's not feminine per se, but the rose brings a softer facet.

I don't know what would make a scent more feminine to you, as I see the incense note as unisex, myself. It also depends on what your budget is, of course Smile

It was mentioned several times here and it is indeed THE most often recommended scent for church incense: Comme des Garçons Series 3: Incense - AvignonSeries 3: Incense - Avignon. As you can guess by its name, it is INCENSE, and it does smell like a western church. Last I checked, Comme des Garçons was still priced reasonably.

I'm thinking that maybe L'Artisan Parfumeur's Passage d'EnferPassage d'Enfer might fit your bill, as it is an incense with a solid floral nuance of lilies, and a touch of woods. The incense, here, is not IN YOUR FACE single note; the whole perfume is actually elegant, airy, on the cold side and rather fleeting, too (it's an EDT). The floral notes might make the scent more feminine for you?

The extreme version Passage d'Enfer ExtrêmePassage d'Enfer Extrême (EDP) is quite different, stronger, with solid spicy notes and a bed of vanilla and benzoin that makes it much warmer than the original.

Now I have to mention the ridiculously priced Armani Privé - Bois d'EncensArmani Privé - Bois d'Encens. I swooned smelling it. You're transported in a church, with the very best incense swirling around during mass, and the smell of the wooden benches you sit on. The PR talks about Armani wanting a reminder of when he used to go to mass with his grandmother in Italy. Brand storytelling or not, I do find it's... well, THE smell of a mass indeed. I don't know if it's still possible, but at the time I simply bought the "refill" (already painfully expensive, but at least cheaper than getting the whole fancy bottle).

I smelled them too long ago to remember, but I know that the two Heeley are much appreciated: CardinalCardinal has olibanum (THE ingredient of church incense) and (marked) myrrh; it's often described as a "softer Avignon", but with spiciness and some warmth in the scent. But quite fleeting. Eau SacréeEau Sacrée is also olibanum and myrrh, but stronger, darker, heavier and with a rose note too.

I haven't tried it, but I mention in passing the all-natural cheapie Myrrhe & Encens MystérieuxMyrrhe & Encens Mystérieux by 100bon. There used to be two versions ("Intense EDC" black label and EDP white label) with apparently different compositions, and both are discontinued (the version registered in the database here is discontinued). Myrrhe & Encens has just been reissued and this 2024 version is an Intense EDC, with notes: Bergamot, freshness / Myrrh, Patchouli, Papyrus Wood / Musk, Tonka Bean, Incense, Opopanax.

Now, interestingly, someone on Fragrantica made a list of "most feminine incense on one end and most masculine on the other", feminine to masculine would be: Passage d'EnferPassage d'Enfer; CardinalCardinal ; Series 3: Incense - AvignonSeries 3: Incense - Avignon; then Encens RoiEncens Roi (I don't know this one).

They also made a list of which one smells most like an old European cathedral after mass, from most to least: Encens RoiEncens Roi; Passage d'EnferPassage d'Enfer; Series 3: Incense - AvignonSeries 3: Incense - Avignon; CardinalCardinal .

Oh, and while we're at it: the composition of church intense would be going from simply olibanum, olibanum+myrrh, to Olibanum+Myrrh+Benzoin+Storax+Cascarilla. I'd love to smell a perfume with that formula!

I love the scent of incense, specially since I'm from Seville and it is really popular here in churches and specially during the Holy Week, it's such a childhood and 'at home' scent for me, mysterious but in a comforting, familiar way.
I really love Invite Only Amber | 23Invite Only Amber | 23, which has an incense note, and Myrrh & TonkaMyrrh & Tonka, which is honestly a stunning fragrance, but none of those smell like actual incense to me. I actually keep small bags with different blends of incense around the room, here every church has a special, very distinctive smell. Maybe if you are not SUPER familiar with incense, those two scents have definitely a 'sacred' vibe.
