Historical Perfumes-

I didn’t want to gum up the proposal discussion with a more general question, so I’m adding it here. 

I’m a fond customer of a shop called LBCC Historical Apothecary. They have some scents that are fully original creations, such as the Anne Elliot scent currently pending as a proposal. 

However, the brand makes several scents that are more borderline re: originality and I wanted to gauge the appropriate way of going about these. 

The brand often recreates scents from historical recipes. Sometimes these are reformulated to accommodate ingredient safety and availability. However, occasionally the brand just makes the exact historical recipe. For example, they recreate an 1857
Eau de Cologne, and did a limited reproduction of a 1950s Saravel perfume. Are these scents appropriate to propose to the database, or are they technically dupes, despite the passage of time?

My personal feeling would be that recreating a 19th century perfume while accommodating for modern safety standards and ingredient availability basically constitutes creating an entirely new composition. 

Anyway, Parfumo already includes plenty of fragrances that are inspired by or similar to earlier perfumes, so I personally don’t think “based on an older formula” should automatically disqualify it. 

Well, even some obvious dupes are in the database, so I don't see why you couldn't propose them.
