Re: Hard to Find Perfumes...
...Dulcemio:valandria:I'm not sure if the one I've been looking for is discontinued or what, but it sure is difficult to find out much about it. I am talking about Satellite's Ipanema.Let's retrace your steps. Where is the last place you remember seeing it? :)I have not seen it, but have researched the hell out of it trying to find it.

I have been.......
by valandria | Off Topic
...Cryptic:I have been concerned about a very sweet colleague who had a heart attack shoveling the 13.5" of snow. You'd think his neighbors would have cleared for him (he's older). Pisses me off that people are so self-absorbed.That's pretty sad. I was just reading how shoveling snow is exceptionally hard work and that if you are older you should get a clearance from your doctor first.

...I have been doing rain dances here in California. 80 degrees in January just isn't right. They are talking water rationing soon if we don't get rain - I don't want my yard and plants to all die.

Books: what are you reading right now?

Celebrity perfumes: A thread
...I love JLo's Miami Glow - sometimes I wear it in the winter when I wish it were summer. It's so uplifting to me.My latest celeb acquisition is Denise Richards - heavy on the tropical white florals, it's a great vacation scent and reminds me of Hawaii. I don't have anything else like it in my wardrobe, so it's a keeper. My old favorite is Malibu Nights by Pam Anderson. Some say it's a dupe of Coco Mademoiselle, it is a little I think too, but not completely. I really love the scent - it was my first introduction to champaca flower.

What really makes you BUY a perfume?
by valandria | Perfumes & Brands
...I usually start with a sample purchase after I've read something you all have posted - lol. Or, I'll read about a new perfume somewhere and the notes might get me interested. The anticipation for the samples to arrive makes me joyous! Then, when I smell something that makes me swoon, I keep testing to be sure I'm still swooning before it goes on my want list. It is definitely an emotional connection. It will evoke a memory usually.I just purchased something I've been wanting for about 9 months. It was an expensive one, which will make me curtail my hunt for awhile. But, that's okay with me. I'm to the point that I want to get what I really, really want instead of a bunch of stuff I end up just feeling okay about.I know you know what I mean

Are You The Only Perfumista In Your Family?
by valandria | Parfumo Community
...I'm the only one that is really into it, yes. Now my mother wears her signature daily - Coco Mademoiselle, but I've sent her oodles of samples and gotten her to branch out a little. As for me, I'm always branching out. I'm going to try this year though to dial it down a notch or two and enjoy what I've got.I was probably influenced by my mother's mirrored perfume tray when I was a kid. I marveled at those beautiful bottles which seemed like magic potions to me. As soon as I was old enough and allowed to do so, I had perfume. I believe my first one was Helena Rubenstein's Heaven Scent. No one really knows the amount of perfumes I have! A few fragrance friends, and my husband - that's it. If you are wondering, my husband totally encourages my hobby. He benefits from it as well!

60% of the time, it works every time.

...I saw Anchorman 2 on NY Eve. I laughed so hard - it's over the top in a silly/funny way. No cologne gags in this movie. Nothing is PC with Ron Burgundy! Lots of cameo roles towards the end of the movie when they have a 'battle of the news shows' in a park. Hilarious. I needed something to laugh at this year. Tired of these movies about Wall Street. I don't even want to give the directors of them a dime of my money, and I already know how they brought the country to the brink of disaster.

Hermès perfumes
by valandria | Perfumes & Brands
...Epimedes:Sherapop:valandria:I wish I liked Hermes, but everything smells very masculine to my nose - just too masculine smelling on me. I like some of the men's line on men though…. :DEven "24, Faubourg"? That's my all-time favorite...And how about "Calèche"? Another beautiful chypre, feminine and classy.I have not tried Caleche. I would like to though. The Merveilles weren't good on me either - after about 6 different Hermes attempts, I'm a bit skiddish.

That's my all-time favorite...8)Yes Sherapop, even 24 Faubourg. I had a big bottle of it and it just went flat on my skin. I tried wearing it for a year and it just ended up smelling like all woods on me. I thought it would be my thing since I adore amber, too.
