...https://www.parfumo.com/Fragrance_Note/Roasted_cocosI think roasted coconut may be better suited, the current one seems to illustrate coconut trees on fire. Thanks for fixing :)

Translated reviews
by Anessa | Parfumo Community
Re: Translated reviews
...Hi, as far as I have observed, since English is taught as the 1st foreign language at the majority of German secondary schools - apart from the great linguistic proximity to German (though not as close as to Dutch) - it is easier for German-speaking members to read English reviews on parfumo.com if they wish, than the other way round for international members to read German reviews on parfumo.de.Furthermore, given the constant flow and number of incoming reviews on parfumo.de, I am 100% sure that German* members are happy to keep the current state of traffic for a better overview.Obviously, translation is done automatically, so I would assume that the lack of quality compared to paid human translators are understandable (talking about the ideal case - I've seen a number of human translations that were much worse). However, this translation feature can be deactivated. Therefore, translated reviews displayed on parfumo.com come from members who have given their consent and accept the flaws that you have pointed out. Some members prefer to write reviews separately in both languages or manually correct the automatic translation afterwards. This is all possible. It can be said that overall, while reading may not be an issue for the reasons mentioned above, for those who do not feel comfortable or hesitate to actually write reviews in English (and if you think about it - isn't this task sometimes difficult enough even in your mother tongue?), this feature is very welcome because it gives them the opportunity to share their reviews with more people by overcoming the language barrier.I suppose that the translated comments under the reviews are also intended to encourage interaction between German* and international Parfumo members. And so far, the feedback from the German* community on this feature has indeed seemed very positive.I hope to have answered some of your questions.*Here, German = German-speaking. Shortened for simplicity.

...I'd prefer letters also. Phone calls only in emergencies or if it's someone I haven't heard from/seen in ages.Time is an issue as well if one can't multitask.I remember having sat for hours on the floor, unable to tackle anything but obliged to listen to pointless monologues of female acquaintances who were just bored and had nothing else to do.Snacking: Definitely salty. I won't touch caramelised popcorn ;)Which of these would you prefer: Unfriendly/ill-humored assistants who make you feel uncomfortable every time, the shop itself offers very good prices. Very accomodating and pleasant atmosphere, prices are more than double the first shop.

How did you hear about Parfumo?
by Anessa | Parfumo Community
...I was looking for any info/reviews of a particular perfume I was considering to purchase blindly.I can't even remember if I bought it in the end - I think not :)Reading comments on other known fragrances got me hooked, and then, reading about fragrances in general.I was also impressed by the database covering not only major brands but also unknown and long-forgotten ones.

...Definitely shower; bath only if it's a sitting tub because I don't like to lie and eventually feel asleep or become rather drowsy. You've received a gift from someone who's living far away within the same country.Would you thank them with a letter or per phone call?

What most people don't know about you.

...- my favourite colour also is indigo :) and other particular hues of blue; I don't like wearing red- I had a rabbit; I don't eat coneys either and really dislike predators (all sorts) that just 'play' with their prey for cruel fun without the intention to feed out of need- I was going to have a profession in the musical field and now, am dreaming to become a jam session musician in my next life- I can't concentrate if someone is listening to music that is just noise to me- Out of the (psycho-)thriller/suspence genre, I used to read lots of Patricia Cornwell, Ruth Rendell, Patricia Highsmith, William Irish, Colin Dexter... in my youth (the more classic ones Christie, Doyle, Ellery Queen etc. excluded). While I don't read anything of the first genre (Kay Scarpetta etc.) anymore and can't be interested, I still enjoy the rest.- I never smoked in my life and still get headaches and pressure in my lungs inhaling other people's cigarette smoke- Instead, I've been a coffeeholic since I was officially allowed to drink coffee; I love the aroma, but wouldn't put it on as perfume whereas I do like wearing tea scents- I don't like 'beachy' fragrances and the real situation, but I still like aquatics- Most of the perfume bottles people find ugly, I really don't think so. I may lack taste.

Problem the Same with Offer through Souk
by Anessa | Parfumo Community
...Hello everyone who may have the issue with offering in the Souk:The restriction to the Souk sales area has now been applied to all members, regardless of the registration date on Parfumo. Please keep in mind that the changes and innovations affecting the Souk area are still ongoing and nothing is in the final stages. Because of this, I will be answering your question as far as I can.- Why is the Souk sales area not freely accessible? As stated in the announcement thread, Parfumo wishes to offer its members who use the Souk area a safer and therefore more enjoyable experience. In the course of investigating fraudsters, we have also discovered new and old member profiles that have shown no signs of activity over the years, except for selling. The free membership of Parfumo was used for solely commercial purposes on this platform. However, it must be emphasised that Parfumo was never meant as a platform for people who mainly want to sell items for free. If someone wants to join Parfumo for monetary reasons only, we would like to point out some other existing platforms that are certainly more suitable for this purpose.Parfumo is primarily intended as a community of perfume lovers who would like to learn about perfumes, exchange opinions on this fascinating hobby and share their passion with like-minded people (and 'sharing' does not allude to the seller-buyer-relationship).The Souk area is only intended as a bonus feature for these community members and not as Parfumo's main attraction for people who seek to secure another lucrative market stall free of charge and tax. - What is community participation/how can I contribute to the community? As a community-driven platform, Parfumo encourages interaction between members through the high functionality and transparency of the community area - both on the perfume pages and on the member profile pages. If you pay attention to other members' comments and statements, or even their perfume photos, you will find many ways to get in touch with them. You can begin to express your own sentiment about perfumes with which you are familiar: in words or creative imagery - pictures, statements for your opinion in a nutshell, or comments for those who like to write longer texts. If there is a specific perfume-related topic you would like to tell us, please do so in a blog article.Or give us your opinion on e.g. for which season(s) a perfume is suitable, on which occasions, how you rate its longevity, its projection, etc. on the respective perfume pages. Finally, there is Parfumo's huge database, which provides members with a reliable source of information as a unique perfume encyclopedia. Maintenance is done by volunteers to ensure its accuracy and up-to-dateness.Members wishing to contribute to this special (and perhaps the most advanced/complex) area called research are welcome to see for themselves. For more information on this subject please contact me by private message. I hope that my explanation can provide answers to the question of what Parfumo considers an activity of a real member that actually contributes to the Parfumo community.Summing up: it can be said that Parfumo members are primarily invited to get used to this community, express themselves, engage with other members (at a different level than trading), and simply enjoy the time spent on this platform. If this happens, they will one day find access to the Souk sales area if they so wish. Until then, it is not something that you should work towards or take for granted, but something that will come as a natural 'side effect' of being a valued member of this community.Best wishes and welcome - again - to Parfumo,Anessa

How much is too much?
by Anessa | Perfume Discussions
...Same here as Exciter :)For me, it strongly depends on the kind of fragrance and the circumstances (season, place, time of the day).An EDC strength in the summer would be sprayed like a body mist about 3-4 times+touching up.Since I usually do not want my fragrances to project, a moderately 'strong' one (subjective perception) would be worn once, max. twice under clothes.Concerning your title about how much - if the elevator or public transport is filled with the scent, if I smell someone's trail minutes after the person's gone or has just passed by (no matter in the open air or a room), I would consider this as 'over-spray'.If I have to sit next to or behind someone at the theatre/cinema/opera whatnot and can't concentrate on the stage because of the scent of this person during the whole performance, I would regard this as a result of over-spraying as well.

Beauty Encounter
by Anessa | Parfumo Community
...Hello Oriane,Sorry to hear about your bad experiences with this vendor.Dusty inside/dirty cellophane which made my fingers grey and obviously looked as if it had been too much in heat or sunlight sound familiar to me.However, the envelope and tightly ruined box aside, greasy packaging and fingerprints indeed sound more than one should expect from a professional vendor. For that matter, I even wouldn't want these by a private seller, similar to some clothes or crafting items 'in very good condition' smelling of tobacco smoke.Hopefully, the customer service will process your claim and make amends as it is due.If such are not single cases, I cannot imagine them already being almost 20 years around.Nonetheless, I wish you a Merry Christmas and beautifully scented holidays.

Parfumo stands alone as THE treasure trove of information
...Parfumo - a hot tip as a treasure trove of informationNo matter if a certain website would call Parfumo a "nasty pesky copy-cat spam-website with trashy pages" or treat Parfumo's name as some kind of Voldemort of the perfume community - Parfumo has long been discreetly enjoying its reputation as the hot tip for one-of-a-kind information.Without bragging about the fact, Parfumo has been quietly serving as THE high-quality source for many perfume-related websites worldwide. The recent article shows that nowadays, even professional columnists cannot get around Parfumo if they are searching for unique materials that cannot be found anywhere else than on Parfumo:https://www.fragrantica.com/news/Bihaku-and-OneMore-New-Perfumes-by-Francesca-dell-Oro-11660.html"Bihaku (美白, "beautiful white") is a Japanese word that is often used by the Japanese cosmetics industry in advertising. The word means a very slightly pigmented, light, and luminous complexion based on the traditional ideal of beauty."Sounds familiar, no? Check out the Interesting Facts by Parfumo from 80 days ago:https://www.parfumo.com/Perfumes/Francesca_DellOro/Bihaku"Bihaku (美白, "beautiful white") is a Japanese term mainly used in the cosmetics industry. It designates an only slightly pigmented, fair and luminous complexion based on the traditional ideal of beauty." Let's face it: The article in the first link used a whole passage taken from Parfumo, almost word for word.Without being credited for it, Parfumo's text was nearly 1:1 published in an article by THE website which claims to be "The largest Perfume Encyclopedia in the World".As said in the beginning, it's kept a BIG SECRET when websites use information by Parfumo, apparently for reasons of their own.Maybe they don't want to share and reveal Parfumo, their trustworthy, PRECIOUSSS source? Who knows?Openly or not, Parfumo's status in the serious online perfume world has long been established.Kudos to Parfumo - let's continue setting high standards as the back-stage role model and the source of inspiration for other perfume-related websites worldwide!

...https://www.parfumo.com/Fragrance_Note/Oud_combodiEdit: I can only find it in connection with the Arabic name used for Arabic fragrances "oudh al combodi" which seems to be a spelling variation for "Oud Cambodi".Since we do not have a separate English entry for "Cambodian oud" (except for "Black Cambodian Oud"), I assume we're using the Arabic name for a reason, also for non-Arabic fragrances.

Perfume-related quotes

...Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud might be right for the majority of people, but I prefer flowers to bees ;)"The scent of the blossoms will not stay on the branches they have fallen frombut will remain deeply fragrant on the sleeves" (from The Tale of Genji)Nobles enjoyed mixing fragrances and making solid perfume incenses, using as a room- and also fabric scent transferred onto their clothes.
