Do our perfume choices influence our other choices?
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...Interesting observations, CC!For me, no not really. I like wearing gourmands, but they don't make me hungry or decide to bake some cookies. I guess if anything, it's the other way around and I bake a dessert while wanting to find a scent that captures that moment in time.

What do you like best on Parfumo?
by Hayven | Parfumo Community
...The minis and samples pages; they really help me keep track of what I have and what I've tried. Also there are nice people here I get a chance to talk to who I probably wouldn't have otherwise.

Cocoa-centric perfumes?
...PK perfumes has one called violet chocolatier. The cocoa note is very dry, but you have to like violets of course. The perfume is not as sweet as the notes sound.

I have been.......
by Hayven | Off Topic
...Dulcemio:I have been noticing that as we get to a certain age, many of us start slouching without realizing it, and how poor posture adds years to our looks. I have to consciously remind myself to stand up straight quite often.Today I was walking behind this beautiful women who was, I'd estimate, in her mid fifties, and I noticed she had a fantastic figure, very fit, and was one of the 5% of women who can actually pull off tight fitting yoga pants. And then I saw her in profile and saw that her posture was not good, and it instantly made her seem less attractive and older.Baby boomers, we have to stay on that posture at all times! :DYep! I keep reminding myself often to sit or stand straight if possible.

The Significant Other - Perfumes?
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
Re: The Significant Other - Perfumes?
...Silverfire:For us, it's about a 60/40 split, or maybe a touch higher. I'm the one more into fragrances. However, she's more into food. So we've ended up expanding each other's sensory worlds and it's awesome. We do go to Sephora and Ulta together and there's no problem about buying fragrances and such. There's no opposition. If anything, there's some mutual enabling going on. LOL!Correct me if I'm wrong. Sometimes I feel like Ulta has a better selection of men's colognes than women's perfume.

Regulations for perfume on airplane?
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...Ahh, so it's a domestic trip. Sorry for rambling on and on then.I agree with Pipette; try and find one spot to shop and find a little something special.I don't think you can buy duty-free fragrances unless you're going in or out of the country...right? At least that's how it is at O'Hare.

Your Perfume - How about a refill?

...Here it is, a source thingie at Ulta. I'm being nitpicky here, but I think the Alien juice should be in the purple container. :P

Your Perfume - How about a refill?
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...Pipette:I feel the same way that I rarely finish a bottle. CARON Boutique has urns where certain perfumes can be bought originally from that urn ... don't know about refills.Bond No. 9 also has the refill policy, but one has to purchase new items to get a refill. To me it is not a "thing for the future" as more and more NEW scents get issued at a rapid speed. That doesn't make sense to me, what Bond no 9 does. Might as well buy a new bottle!

Your Perfume - How about a refill?
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...Sorceress:Hayven:There is a source "fountain" at a local Ulta, and I have never seen it touched. How well kept and how often is the source refilled?Really? How big is your Ulta? I've never seen such a thing at my Ulta...now I'm going to tease the ladies there and ask them where is the fountain...As far as refills, not for any perfumes that I can think of that I might purchase today. I haven't emptied any bottles. I have too many that I rotate that I don't come close to emptying any. Altho if I knew I could get refills of Dior Addict and D&G Intense at a discount...hmmmm, I might use them more oftem...To be honest, I wasn't expecting to find one at an Ulta. I found it at the end of one of the perfume shelves. The store is a large space; it takes up half of a square building while the other side has a Baskin Robbins and a Hawaiian BBQ shop.

Tragedy. When perfumes turn

Regulations for perfume on airplane?
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...Hi Sorceress! You can either bring rollerballs or little sprayers, so long as they fit in the quart size baggie in your carry-on luggage. As far as check-in baggage goes, I don't think there is a limit as long as you are flying domestic. If you are going international, I am not sure what the limits are but I imagine it might vary from area to area...? I am assuming this trip is international. I wouldn't risk bringing full bottles over with you. You'll see why in a little bit.I don't know what kind of perfumes are sold on the plane, but there are duty-free shops in the airport that sell perfume. You have to show your passport and ticket to prove that you are flying out of the country. I don't find the markups to be huge internationally--of course, you have to take into account exchange rate of your currency or if you use a credit card, the exchange rate through your credit card company. The stock varies, but I have seen designer fragrances mostly--Burberry, Elizabeth Arden, Hugo Boss, Nina Ricci, Givenchy, etc. If you do make a purchase, they put the perfume in a special clear bag that is to remain sealed during your flight. So really, I would recommend buying perfumes on your way back home so that you can carry them with you on the plane instead of having them sitting in your checked-in luggage, wondering what is going on with them. One time I had checked-in baggage for a domestic flight with two new perfumes, and somebody stole them. :( Thankfully I reported it and I was reimbursed by the airline because I had receipts. When you arrive, you are supposed to declare the cost of the items you brought over with you. I think you get taxed if you purchased a certain amount (like $600 or something...it's been 3 years since I flew overseas so maybe the rules have changed). I hope this helps some! Where are you going, if I may ask?

Your Perfume - How about a refill?
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...To be honest, if I was a die hard fan of Mugler perfumes, I could see why people would want the refills for the menagerie of bottles in their collection. But for me, I rarely finish a bottle and if I do, chances are I would move onto another perfume to try. There is a source "fountain" at a local Ulta, and I have never seen it touched. How well kept and how often is the source refilled?

The Significant Other - Perfumes?
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...My boyfriend doesn't have much interest in fragrances. I have bought him a few as well as given him samples. Most of the time, he uses the Oak deodorant spray from bath and body works I bought for $3 on clearance. He doesn't like much of anything I wear and often says, "it stinks". Whatever. :PLike Scarletting, he see that the hobby keeps me happy so he doesn't complain about it.If anything, he shows more interest in the lotions, soaps, and candles I buy. He loves candles, especially ones that smell like pine, oak, vetiver, etc.
