...I live in a condo, so the snow is cleared for us by the association (and are paid by association fees). When I lived at home, I used the snowblower to help clear the driveway; most of the time I used a snow scoop. I suppose being young had to do with it, but I rather enjoyed shoveling, even if I had to do it before work. I found the task relaxing. I'm a weirdo.

State of designer and niche fragrances
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...For the most part, I think designer has changed. I do like some celebrity scents, but the fact that I see them displayed in a department store next to Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, etc., then I meander over to Walmart and see the same kills the luxurious feeling of perfume for me. I know the economy worldwide is not what it used to be, and perfume has been made a little more affordable through smaller sizes and sample sets. Niche has done the same. But the truth is, perfume is supposed to a luxury: we don't need it, but it makes us feel good. Don't get me wrong, I love a good deal on eBay or Amazon; but I'm willing to shell out/save the cash for something I think that is worth the luxury (and that's purely subjective). I am a fan of the sweet and gourmand perfumes as long as they last a good amount of time on me. I can see where people who DON'T like sweet and gourmand perfumes can be frustrated as the current marketing is not trying to appeal to them much. There are only so many perfumes out there that one would consider unique. When a good amount of women in my age group started wearing Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, and Victoria's Secret perfumes...that's when I wanted to expand my horizons and try niche perfumes as they are generally unknown by casual perfume wearers. But all in all, designer has changed. It's way cheaper to buy a bottle of a Burberry perfume than to buy an actual piece from the Burberry wardrobe. The thing about designer is that they are generally known by the public, but niche remains under the radar...which to be honest I am fine with; it makes me feel a little more unique when I wear a niche perfume.

...When I have days off, I shop like crazy. I have 5 days off, including Black Friday. It took all my willpower not to go apeshit at the stores. I "compensated" by purchasing groceries and perfume sample sets online.I saw a video of women fighting over towels at a Walmart. A little girl was shoved in the process. Really!? I bought towels from there before, and they fall apart within a few months.

Say hello and/or introduce yourself (if you like)
by Hayven | Parfumo Community
...Hi, my name is Chloe. I'm a nurse on night shift. I like to travel when I have the time off to do so. I deal with the stress of working by cooking, baking, and buying lots of perfumes. I'm tubby, but at least I'm happy and smell good. :D

...Olga1780:I think I made a mistake by entering the thread on F about fakes on Ebay and defending Ebay.....some nutjobs are already all worked up and going for my throat  And of course, those who bark the most furiously, have nothing but celebrity perfumes in their collection....oh, boy :roll:I wanted to say more, but I shut it. In the sense of hyperbole, is it a waste of time to cut coupons or look at flyers for sale items? You cannot deny it; the markup at a department store is ridiculous. I'll buy from a department store occasionally, but that's maybe once a year. I'm fine with people liking celebrity scents; I have a few myself. But people are continuously clucking over them, especially duplicate threads about "which is the best Rihanna perfume?" There's only 3 to choose from, one which isn't even out yet.

12 samples, what would you do?
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...I would sample a few a day, maybe three at most. More than that and I have a hard time remembering which one is which (especially if the fragrances are from the same olfactory family). But then at the same time, I have forgotten about a few samples along the way and still to this day have yet to try them.

sherapop appreciation thread
by Hayven | Parfumo Community
...I'm here to schmooze! I really appreciate sherapop's reviews on everything and anything--from the drugstore cheapie to the fragrances few can afford. It shows that she isn't limiting herself to try specific perfumes.Sherapop ought to insure her nose like Betty Grable did with her legs!

Which perfume will be your next buy ?
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...I just purchased a bottle of Keiko Mecheri's Loukhoum eau Poudree on LuckyScent. I saw the new flankers and I don't like them, so I rushed to buy the older one.

...Smellsogood:Grrrr! I had to cancel my opticians appointment last week due to a migraine and was supposed to go today. I only went and sqirted a load of shampoo in my left eye this morning and can't put my contact lenses in because it's all bloodshot (nice). Had to cancel again, and felt a complete donut explaining it over the phone. Better luck next week. :?I had a similar problem with the dentist. I kept falling asleep before my appointment. So I said I would reschedule; it's been 2 years and I'm still putting it off.

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by Hayven | Parfumo Community
...*beats dead horse some more*I like Fragrantica; I really do. When I first joined, people didn't get all offended by others' sarcasm. But for some reason, things changed. I thought I got along with everyone--there isn't anyone I hate or refuse to talk to-- but there is too much "he said, she said" going on, and I don't want to be a part of that. I do not really know what is going on, but I can "feel" the animosity between members in the posts. I will still post on Fragrantica and browse at suggestions or new perfumes. I'm not joining sides. I had no idea that many members were over here. I checked this site back in July when Coutureguru mentioned it and didn't see too many posts, then I came back again the other day when I was told about it again. But it's cool to see some of the people again who were "MIA" from Fragrantica.

Samples from Houses - best experience
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...I ordered samples from Tulip, a niche fragrance line. I emailed the owner and she kept good contact with me about shipping, prices, etc. I did have to send a check though as she didn't have PayPal or an online shopping site yet; the full bottles are available on BeautyHabit but I didn't want to blindly buy a bottle. But I received the samples within a week of sending the check so the owner held up her end. I ended up not liking any of them and one of them was a dead ringer for a common perfume, but that's a whole 'nother story.

Keiko Mecheri......an experience in understated elegance Umé - Keiko Mecheri
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...I tried Loukhoum Poudree, worried that it would be a "powerhouse" of a sweet perfume. I ended up falling in love with it; a powdery almond.
