...Dolby:Well, would you believe it? Since mentioning that a keen appreciation for perfumes is a BIG plus in my book, there is a rather large proportion of fish with a newly found passion for the smellies.Hmmm … I wonder what other big pluses I could mention? Any ideas? Good with hands? As in, you know, foot massage and stuff like that. "Reflexology a plus."

abstract art, anyone?
by Dulcemio | Off Topic
...yeah, there's a difference between liking something and having it in your home, huh! Even if the decor would support it. I don't know why I'm so resistant to to it, since my decor would support it. Plus, I really enjoy the eclectic look. I like putting things together that mesh well but don't match. Matchy-matchy a big no-no chez Dulcemio. :D

Minimalistic Perfumes Calycanthus Brumae - Acqua di Stresa
by Dulcemio | Perfume Recommendations
Re: Minimalistic Perfumes
...Lola82:Since in my Collection i have a lots of heavy Orientals and complex notes i'm looking for a simple Zen like fragrances Based on my own experience, I would suggest that you start by buying a sample or a mini of one of these fragrances outside your comfort zone, especially going from rich and heavy orientals to something lighter. I have tried to be more inclusive of non-sweet, non-oriental perfumes and I just couldn't find anything that satisfied me. For me it seems the intensity bar has been raised, never to be lowered again.

Perfumes for bedtime wear? L'Eau Neuve - Lubin
by Dulcemio | Perfumes & Brands
...I do love to fall asleep with the scent of something soft and calming, such as: Dior Hypnotic PoisonAnnick Goutal Vanille ExquiseGivenchy Organza IndecenceHowever, I've come to believe that my respiratory tract should get a break from perfume periodically, so I usually don't spray anything before bed. (Though I do enjoy it when something from the previous day is still there the next morning, like the magnificent Grain de Soleil that I wore yesterday. That stuff doesn't know when to quit!)Hey, do you believe that scent affects your dreams at night?

by Dulcemio | Perfume Recommendations
...I read you fantastic review, thank you!Apicius, by the way, I see from comments that you are not a big fan of vanilla in perfume. Well, I used to be the same way, having worn Chanel No. 19 most of my adult life, and prior to that Paco Rabanne Eau de Calandre (strong aldehydes in that one!) and could never understand why anyone would want to smell of vanilla! The shift came when exploring the world of perfume became a hobby, and now I am hooked on vanilla, big time!! I can hardly imagine wearing anything without a noticeable vanilla note. And now I curse all those years I went without vanilla on my skin!

abstract art, anyone?
by Dulcemio | Off Topic
...I am just beginning at this late stage in life to appreciate abstract art enough to hang it in my home.I've seen many pieces with beautiful color combinations, but could never break free from the concept that my artwork needed to be of something recognizable. Can you relate?Just wondering if many members are fans of abstract art.

Which masculine scents can be worn by a woman?
by Dulcemio | Perfumes & Brands
...Before the last few years I had never considered wearing men's fragrances, nor even unisex for that matter, because most are just too masculine for my taste. Until I learned that the world of masculine and unisex fragrances is so much bigger than I previously knew. Two that I am most familiar with and wear are:Serge Lutens CHERGUIMaitre Parfumeur et Gantier AMBRE PRECIEUXI would take these to a desert island with me (along with about 10 others!). :-)

I have tried the second two before, and I will sample Bois d'Armenie.By the way, is Bois d'Armenie similar at all to Tonka Imperiale and Angelique Noir? I've tried those already.

...Many of the ones below have sort of a popsicle sweetness to me in the drydown, which I'm not really crazy about, especially given their price tags.In the same vein, though not necessarily as sweet as these, where would you direct me to explore next?Il Profumo - Vanille BourbonIl Profume - Chocolat AmereGinestet - BoytritistFrapin - 1270Frapin - 1697Mona di Orio - Les Nombres d'Or Vanille (my favorite of these listed)Parfums de Nicolai - Vanille Intense (my second favorite of these listed)

Warm cherries
by Dulcemio | Perfume Recommendations
...PontNeuf:You will find lots of cherries in "Loukhoum Parfum Le Soir" by Keiko Mecheri. Mixed with almonds and ultra-deliciously sweet. That one is only for steadfast gourmand lovers :-)Hmmm . . . this sounds like it might actually be a suitable replacement for GLORIA by CACHAREL.I will sample it, but in the meantime, can anyone comment on any Gloria similarity?

Warm cherries
by Dulcemio | Perfume Recommendations
...Delphine67:Sherapop, I had long time ago a bottle of lolita lempicka. That whas some cherries and licorice. Is 'fleur defendue"similar to that one? or totally notIt's eternally interesting to me how differently some fragrances are received by each wearer. Fleur Defendue didn't emphasize cherries at all for me, or almonds either, which is what I was after. I found it a very fresh and light floral, with that "fresh from the shower" feeling.
