What Smells Repell You No Without Perfumes

...Dlane1953:I hate the smell of a house that's been closed up for a long time, the air stale with old cigarette smoke and cooking odors that seem to permeate the walls. One that hasn't had a breath of fresh air in years. This is suffocating. Makes me think of......dungeons somehow.

Regarding food
...I take small bites and chew for a long time. LOL It's hard. I feel the need to be polite, and then don't want to look rude by looking like I don't enjoy it either. Hard to manage sometimes.

...Vietnamese PHO soup:Pho was born in Northern Vietnam during the mid-1880s. The dish was heavily influenced by both Chinese and French cooking. Rice noodle and spices were imported from China; the French popularized the eating of red meat. In fact, it is believed that "ph?" is derived from "pot au feu" a French soup. Vietnamese cooks blended the Chinese, French and native influences to make a dish that is uniquely Vietnamese. From North to SouthThe popularity of pho spread southwards starting in 1954 when the country was divided into North and South Vietnam. As the dish moved south, cooks infused it with additional ingredients until it evolved into the version that is commonly served today.Regional Pho VariationsThe origins of pho as a Northern dish that spread South explains the key differences between the Northern and Southern variations. Northern style pho tends to be simpler and is made with less ingredients. There are fewer cuts of meat and small slices of ginger are laid on top of the soup. The pho is served without bean sprouts or herbs. Instead, it is accompanied by green chilies and lime only. Southern style pho is a complex dish made from a dozen ingredients. Bean sprouts, fresh basil and saw herb are typically served with each bowl. As with the Northern style pho, green chilies and lime are used as condiments.Pho in the United StatesRefugees fleeing Vietnam in the Spring of 1975 brought with them their hopes and dreams of a better life. They also brought their cultures and cuisine, of which pho has become the most popular among Americans. Today there are almost 2,000 pho restaurants spread across the United States and Canada. One typically finds Southern style pho served although a few outlets also serve Northern style pho. Typical establishments sell pho and other Vietnamese dishes like goi cuon (spring rolls) and cha gio (eggrolls). And I like wearing Marc Jacobs Marc Jacobs perfume with it.

Smells
...I remember spending a day up around the area in Pennsylvania, USA where the Amish people have farms. Some are pig farms. (Thus the piggy reference.) I will never forget the smell. Looks like this.....but the SMELL! I happened to come across this online and just had to share!

Random thoughts on Reviews

...Sorceress:I think the worst references I've seen, although not here, are when a reviewer likens a perfume to an "old lady smell" or "smells like my grandma". Oh how I take offense to that! My Gramma always smelled wonderful. And what exactly is an "old lady smell"? My wish for these reviewers is to have someone donate to them a thesaurus and teach them how to use it. Or install a "Word A Day" program on their computers. When a reviewer writes a discerning story about a perfume, we appreciate it. When they write a review with negative images about a perfume that someone enjoys, is it wrong? Not at all. What is important is how the visuals are communicated. Are they rude and offensive? If so, that's simply wrong. Are they in all caps? Don't yell at me because you don't like the perfume. There is one time I used an unpleasant association in a review, and it was the truth. I really did get that odor from it. But that wasn't all I wrote. I explained much more. I'm very honest in my writing. It's my background and my degree. Plus, I guess I'm old-fashioned in my personal rules for writing. I take time to write a review, re-read them before I post, and even spell-check. But that's my style. Everyone has their own, but I would think they would want to aspire to learn the basic rudimentary skills of how to critique. The old "who, what, where, when and how" is simple to apply as a basic.I also find the term "old lady" to be highly offensive since it is almost always used in a denigratory manner. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that there are far better descriptives that can be used.
