What fragrance group/s do you prefer ?
by Pansylady | Perfumes & Brands
...I'm mad about citrus white florals with a light woody base, blue florals, and yellow florals dripping with honey and nectar on a base of musk, incense, or amber-Generally speaking, the simpler and more natural, the better- and If the scent doesn't last longer than 4 hours, I'm not interested-

Ever Got Complimented on a NICHE Perfume?
by Pansylady | Parfumo Community
...If Jo Malone counts as niche...My sister and I were standing on my Mom's porch one summer evening, and she said- "I smell blossoms in the air tonight- I wonder what they are"- I think she was smelling French Lime Blossom-

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by Pansylady | Parfumo Community
...There are great people on both sites- it's too bad that so many people feel that they have to choose one site or the other- I enjoy them both-There are always going to be things to complain about, no matter where you are, if that's what you want to do- any time mortal humans are involved in a system of any kind, things are going to get mucked up from time to time...

Thank you note etiquette

...I think that Facebook has taken the place of all other forms of communication for a lot of people- is it possible that some kind of generic thank you was sent there by your "friends", Hayven? It is a bummer that so many simple acts of courtesy and kindness have gone by the wayside with a large number of people today- but I'm glad to hear that there are lots of folks here who agree that these things are important-

...Thanks so much- I really appreciate your kindness- this has been a rough ride-Seeing the way that my blue garden has turned out, I have been reminded of the "rainbow" garden in Stockholm at Djurgarden- swathes of red, pink, orange, yellow, blue/purple and white blooms- nice memories

...I have been admiring the beautiful rosy red, pink and cream colored lupines growing in front of my living room picture window, and my "Rhapsody in Blue" garden bed in the corner of my yard- irises, salvia, and scabiosa- funny, I didn't plan it this way, for it to be all blue, but I love it- I have been counting the days until my husband's surgery (June 5)- and praying that he will get total relief from pain and full use of both arms-

...I have been nursing my husband who is in terrible pain from herniated discs in his neck, and needs surgery- I have been trying to walk that fine line between being a good patient advocate for him- and being a pain in the arseI have been feeling a mixture of fear, sadness and disgust by just how awful his nursing and medical care were at the local hospital where I had gotten my RN training many moons ago

Parfumo/Fragrantica
by Pansylady | Parfumo Community
...I strongly prefer three liner reviews- I ascribe to the old saying "brevity is the soul of wit"- I personally tend to lose patience with the multi-paragraph reviews- sometimes, they seem pretty self-indulgent to me- but it's just a matter of taste, like everything else.I see lots to appreciate in Fragrantica, basenotes and Parfumo- I don't see the need to take sides- I like to hop from one site to anotherOne world is enough for all or us, I hope- whether we prefer vintage, niche, designer, or celebrity scents- or all of the above-

I once saw/met ...
by Pansylady | Off Topic
...I got a glimpse of Sissy Spacek at the Albemarle Mall in Charlottesville ,Virginia- no makeup, hair pulled back in a pony tail, wearing a beige raincoat, and pushing a stroller- it was a Tuesday afternoon- I stopped at the makeup counter and asked the SA if that was just Sissy Spacek who walked by, and she said "yeah, she comes here all the time, and no one ever bothers her".In 2007, while living in Germany, I went with a friend to Altotting in Bavaria because she wanted to see Pope Benedict, who was expected to visit- I fully expected that we wouldn't get even a glimpse of him, but she begged me to go, and I went along with her. We were standing outside behind a cordon, playing the waiting game- when all of a sudden, a bunch of buses arrived, and scads of nuns and priests poured out of them- before we knew it, we were in a crush of people, and got rushed into the church- and had the lovely experience of attending at Vespers, which was led by Pope Benedict- we were just about 14 rows from the front of the altar. I kept expecting someone to throw us out, since we clearly weren't clergy or nuns, but it didn't happen! In 2010, I was working at the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm- I ran a small gift/snack shop there, and one of my more humble tasks was to fill up the soda machines in the waiting room in the consulate. While doing this, I noticed that a can had exploded inside the machine, so I called the housekeeping staff to come and clean it up. After the housekeepers arrived, one of them said- "did you see who was in the waiting room?". It turns out that it was Benny Andersson from Abba, probably getting his passport stamped for a trip to the U.S., since Abba had just been inaugurated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I said "Let's go and introduce ourselves to him" and she said "sure"- well, I did just that- I just said "Hi, I'm a fan"- and he junmped up amd shook my hand- he was thinner than I remembered, and rather tall, but then I noticed that he was wearing platform shoes (very -70s, eh?) I thought that the housekeepers were with me, but they stood behind the door, snickering at me-I got a glimpse of REM guitarist Peter Buck and Peter Holsapple, who also played guitar with them on tour, at the airport in Atlanta- he looked about 7 feet tall, walking down the middle of the aisle, looking like he owned the place-
