Comfort video games
by River | Off Topic
...I play Bloons TD 6 a lot, although lately I've been playing Minecraft. I used to spend hours and hours playing Minecraft with my friends when I was younger, but I stopped playing when I lost those friends and updates to the game made changes that kinda killed my nostalgia. It's not so bad, though. I'm getting used to the new Minecraft.

Green Tea but with a more prominent and longer lasting base?
...I love Green Tea (Eau Parfumée)Green Tea Eau Parfumée, it's so fresh and relaxed, however, the longevity leaves a lot to be desired, and even the base notes are gone within a couple hours. I was wondering about fragrances that have have this same feeling but have a stronger musky or musky-amber base? Something like Melody of the SunMelody of the Sun but without the jasmine and osmanthus.

What perfume have you bought recently?
by River | Perfumes & Brands
...I ordered 17 samples, looking forward to trying them all, but, I am most looking forward to trying The Ghost In The ShellThe Ghost In The Shell, Black Afgano (Extrait de Parfum)Black Afgano Extrait de Parfum, and Poets of BerlinPoets of Berlin. I figured I'm not in need of any full bottles, but, I've been really wanting to smell something and get that "new things" feeling.

What are your blind buy regrets?
by River | Perfume Discussions
...I don't like Fructus Virginis (Parfum Extract)Fructus Virginis Parfum Extract very much. I think it's good in some objective sense, it out-performs Lost Cherry (Eau de Parfum)Lost Cherry Eau de Parfum for sure. Unfortunately, I realized I hate cherry after having it on for about an hour. Qaed Al FursanQaed Al Fursan wasn't even that expensive but I still regret it. I have yet to find someone that wants it. Everyone I know that has smelled it says the same thing: "It smells like plastic." The only notes I get are cedarwood and that plasticky amber that is in a lot of fragrances lately. Is my bottle fake? Maybe! It would be weird to fake a brand that is already pretty cheap and accessible, but, I suppose it's possible."Oud Mood | Lattafa / لطافة" I regret blind buying this but I don't regret having it at all. I'm really glad I learned to love it, but, it was definitely not a safe blind buy. I don't blind buy anymore because of this one, actually.

Any Recommendation for a sweet / floral smelling perfume?
...Miss Dior Absolutely BloomingMiss Dior Absolutely Blooming and Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet (2014)Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet (2014) are both sweet florals, the latter being fresher. My mom wears them very often, and I'm quite fond of them, too. They don't project very much, and have poor longevity(imo), so I don't think there's a risk of it being overwhelming for you. Fakhar Lattafa WomenFakhar Lattafa Women is a favorite of mine for sweet, fruity floral. It's pretty strong, though.

Flankers better then the original Pillar fragrance
by River | Perfume Discussions
...I like Spicebomb ExtremeSpicebomb Extreme fairly well. The original, as well as the other flankers, do nothing for me. I love Chance Eau Vive (Eau de Toilette)Chance Eau Vive Eau de Toilette

...My mom used to wear Escape (Eau de Parfum)Escape Eau de Parfum every day, but has now switched to Miss Dior Absolutely BloomingMiss Dior Absolutely Blooming in the fall/winter and Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet (2014)Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet (2014) in the spring/summer. My grandmother wore Youth-Dew (Eau de Parfum)Youth-Dew Eau de Parfum until the day she died.

What are some of the best ways to make perfume last longer?
by River | Perfume Discussions
...Making sure your skin isn't too dry helps. I'm not a fan of putting on lotion and then perfume immediately after, I've found that to have the opposite effect on longevity, but, staying moisturized does help a little. Other than that, there's nothing you can do about it. Some molecules just do not stay on your skin for long. Most top notes are this way, they last for anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, and that is why they are top notes -- they evaporate quickly, which means you smell them immediately. I think these very ephemeral fragrances get made because they want to make something that can be smelled easily in a store. Lots of quickly evaporating chemicals that hit your nose immediately, cutting through the smells of everything else around you. While there are some chemicals that can reduce the rate of evaporation(fixatives), they also flatten the top notes by doing so. If you're interested in experimenting with this, you could try this product from Alkemia, but, I do not own it, so I can not vouch for it's effectiveness. You could also try layering with benzoin or patchouli, both said to be fixatives. While I haven't experimented with them on their own, I've definitely noticed that fragrances which include either(or both) do seem to last a long time.

How did you hear about Parfumo?
by River | Parfumo Community
...I asked a perfume tiktoker if they knew of a better perfume site than the other two, and she recommended this place.

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by River | Parfumo Community
...I always had a weird vibe about fragrantica, but, when Elena posted her article on sustainability with the 'Kramer won't wear an AIDS ribbon' video attached, and then read the comments... I quickly realized what kind of place it really was. I was oblivious to what 'free to choose' meant, as I'm autistic and don't pick up on things like that very easily. The fact that they also didn't have a board for perfume making made it easy to leave. I then went to basenotes, because they have a DIY board. "Great!" I thought, "Maybe this will be a better forum." ... Learned quickly that their user base is entirely made up of extremely irritating people, and, frankly, made fragrantica seem reasonable. I still check on the DIY board, as it does contain a lot of very useful information, but, I honestly hate giving them clicks. It's both amusing and disappointing that this thread has been around for so long, yet all the same problems remain. There is a silver lining, though. People will leave the other sites and come here eventually. Parfumo can only grow!

If it's particularly cold, I'll wear Dark Knight (Parfum Extract)Dark Knight Parfum Extract. I used to wear Agar (Parfum Extract)Agar Parfum Extract for bed almost every night until I realized I had used 70% of my bottle 😬

Say hello and/or introduce yourself (if you like)
by River | Parfumo Community
...I'm River. I joined here after I found Fragrantica and Basenotes to be particularly unwelcoming of people like me. I've discovered that I greatly prefer the way this site works, particularly the collections. I never liked the other site's 'shelves' system, one of the many relics of a bygone era they hold on to... And while I'm not a fan of the way this site uses the term 'oriental', it's nowhere near as problematic as the others as far as I can tell. I'm nonbinary(pronouns), in my 20s, and broke with expensive taste. I'm an electronic musician, wanna-be poet, and beginner perfumer. I'm autistic and have found myself endlessly fascinated with fragrance for the past few years.
