Your Perfume - How about a refill?
by Sherapop | Perfumes & Brands
two arguments: perfume shelf-life and the problem of fakes
...I have often lamented that the beautiful Tocca bottles do not have screw-off tops, which would make them reusable. Here's an example: Tocca "Brigitte"They only contain 50ml, so it seems like an awful waste of a beautiful glass object. However, I understand why perfume companies are loathe to offer screw-off atomizers, and it's not just because the perfume spoils more quickly in non-sealed bottles. It's also because the problem of fakes is already way out of control. Imagine if all perfume bottles were refillable? Ebay would be literally awash with fakes! :?

Parfumo Received Written Warning

I predict business failure for this company
...Sorceress:Seems ridiculous that Parfumo cannot use their name. In a way , it's free advertising for them on your site. Now, no one knows what it is if they happened upon it. It's really their loss. And it's a shame that Parfumo will have to pay out money for this, too. This is just crazy. They get free advertising and increased web presence from Parfumo! What company doesn't want that????

Tragedy. When perfumes turn
by Sherapop | Perfumes & Brands
...Hayven:I follow that trick too with one of my Miss Dior Cherie bottles. The first two sprays are sour, but then the ones after that are fine.I've noticed this too with some of my "now vintage" perfumes (because I acquired them before reformulation). Better to spray into the air before applying if the bottle is older...

Whose Oud is missing?
by Sherapop | Perfumes & Brands
...Sorceress:Recently I picked up "Les Notes de Lanvin - Oud & Rose" locally. I have absolutely no idea what "oud" is supposed to smell like, other than what I have read, nor have I ever owned an perfume with oud as a note listed. I have been hesitant to purchase any, since there are varying opinions, costs, etc., and not knowing if I would like it. But when I saw this one sitting on the shelf at (dare I say it?) my local Marshall's for a ridiculous price I bought it. What I get from it is a sense of being in a garage, an oil feel, as if I'm standing next to a mechanic who's been working all day under cars. I feel as if I should wear this hanging out with my biker friends. It's not overpowering, it's well-blended.Since this the posters here seem to significantly know of "oud" scents, has anyone else smelled this particular one? And is this what "oud" smells like?Well, Lanvin has clearly fallen from grace, and now they've jumped on the "oud bandwagon", too! However, I must say that your description of the mystery note matches my limited experience with true oud. I find it rather unpleasant. :?

EU amendment to sharpen restrictions on fragrance allergens
by Sherapop | Perfumes & Brands
Re: People With Allergies Do Not Wear Perfume
...MiaTrost:Sherapop:Here's a link to my manifesto on this topic: PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES DO NOT WEAR PERFUMEMost likely they know better. The EU's argument is, however, not only the 1-3 % of overall population that actually react allergically need to be protected but also any others that might develop an allergic reaction. Apparently consumers can not be trusted with self-determined actions. :evil:Only this morning I received a comment on that post which appears to have been written by an IFRA shill!

do cheaper scents require more applications?
by Sherapop | Perfume Discussions
...It all depends... I generally find that the more abstract (= synthetic) a perfume is, the more tenacious the scent. The ultimate example being "Joop!" which boasts nuclear longevity.I am more interested in fragrances produced through the sacrifice of at least some plant life, and I definitely prefer not be forced to change all of my linens or else suffer the nightmarish experience of smelling something like "Insolence" for multiple days. Yuck. :o

...Cryptic:Nice! You never forget your first niche. Mine was Petite Cherie. :) The names of these four perfumes have something in common. If you guess one you should be able to figure out the rest.1. ___ in something that's considered politically incorrect2. Polarizing note ___'s deceitfulness3. Atomic number and symbol ___4. A Pearl S. Buck novel is wealthy.Living up to your name again!

...valandria:Yes Sherapop, even 24 Faubourg. I had a big bottle of it and it just went flat on my skin. I tried wearing it for a year and it just ended up smelling like all woods on me. I thought it would be my thing since I adore amber, too.Wow--"24, Faubourg" is a big voluptuous floral perfume! Is there a chance that you had a fake? Your experience sounds rather strange... :?

Hermès perfumes
by Sherapop | Perfumes & Brands
...I just hope that the next step isn't capitulation to the forces that be at LVMH. Hermès need to retain an independent identity in order to continue on with integrity. LVMH has already ruined so many formerly beautiful perfumes...

I have been.......
by Sherapop | Off Topic
...Perfumecrazy:I have been... celebrating my birthday with dinner at the Berlin Bistro. They reserved our usual table and gave me my sparkler-adorned dessert for free as a gift (in recognition of our habit of regularly scoffing German food in their restaurant - note to self, time to cut back on the Quarkkeulchen) :lol:Happy Birthday! :)
