How much is too much?
by Trucklady | Perfume Discussions
...AFreimann:Good morning, folks. I am a total savage. Just this morning, I doused myself with five - yes, five - sprays of Dior Addict (2014), and this is typical behavior for me. I can't even admit how many times I'll spray a much lighter fragrance!I am with you on this. It does depend on where I am and what I am doing, though. 4 sprays of most scents, one if it is a Francesca Bianchi scent or Bouquet Oud, or upwards of 5 for many others. My work environment is a smelly one. Burnt clutches, brake pads, diesel and BO in summer. Many perfumes are totally overwhelmed by these environmental smells, so I have to go a bit loud. At home, I tend to stick to more conservative spray levels.

How did you hear about Parfumo?
by Trucklady | Parfumo Community
...MRoth recommended this site a while back. Others have pointed me here as well. I guess the only way to make Parfumo more visible is to make it active. But then the fairy flossers at the other site might just join in. Catch 22.

Need help identifying this, please.
by Trucklady | Perfumes & Brands
...Hi! I got this perfume as part of a bundle. I am guessing it is 5-10ml. Has no names, no stickers etc. Definite old school with an ambery accord and the musk used in Bal a Versaille. Dry down of jasmine and tiny bit of oakmoss. Have you an idea what it might be?

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by Trucklady | Parfumo Community
...I finf F to be very Eurocentric. Articles focus on markets in Europe and the US, reference only to the season Europe is currently in, the majority of editors and contributors are European and American. I suggested they think about bringing a Singaporean or Brasilian on board. I can think of two very talented souls from both places who would make valued contributions about their markets. Alas, my suggestion wasn't welcomed. At all. Aoparently, F isn't Eurocentric, has a huge base of cultural diversity and does not suffer from any bias. *sigh* Ok.

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by Trucklady | Parfumo Community
...AFreimann:This is a loooooong thread and I admit that I haven't read the entire thing. I am still on Fragrantica but find myself spending time HERE in preference. I love that we can submit perfume pics here and keep an album; I love that we can quickly sort our collections in any number of ways. I love the people I've met here! And to be quite frank I don't find that people are hateful to me here, which I love.Yup. A completely different group of people here. No competing egos. Such a relief.

What most people don't know about you.
by Trucklady | Off Topic
...I am a truck mechanic. I adore espressos and long black coffees. My favourite colour is indigo. I am a huge fan of modern minimalist architecture, pop art, Australian hip hop music and was a manga/anime tragic as a little girl. I collected stationery as a pre teen, and swap cards. I have read most of the Penguin classics, nearly every Enid Blyton book and nearly every Alistair MacLean book.

Which languages do you speak?
by Trucklady | Off Topic
...Bit of a loner here. In addition to my native tongue, English, I speak Bahasa Indonesia, used to speak passable Balinese and could hold a conversation in Sasak.I learned German in high school for a year and then did 2 semesters at uni. It got me through Eastern Russia, where no one spoke English. I still remember the Cyrillic alphabet and a few Russian words I learned 25 years ago. My French never progressed beyond words for things in the classroom and basic directions. Latin bored me endlessly. Picked up a few Mandarin words and phrases whilst teaching. Always wanted to learn Italian - simply to score myself a handsome Italian man who can cook.

Remarkable perfume ads & commercials
by Trucklady | Parfumo Community
Limited version of masculinity
...In these ads. Have you noticed that there seems to be only two types of males represented? I was flipping through modern ads of scents I deem incredibly masculine and uber macho, and the male models/celebrities aren't what I imagine alongside the scent. I kind of miss seeing the older dandy type fellow, such as Cary Grant, and the bear shag pile of Burt Reynolds. As a side note, nothing beats these ads:* Jardins de Bagatelle from the 80s* Paloma Picasso and THAT red lipstick* La Bella Isabella in the Tresor ads* Claudia as die Cristalle personified* the old Brut ads where very little was left to suggestion* Lovely Linda hugging a huge bottle of FidjiYeah, I was an 80s teen.

Do you keep backups?
by Trucklady | Perfumes & Brands
Must keep back up bottles
...Oi, I must have back ups of certain scents. There are a few reasons why. First are discontinued loves. I find price and availability are the two limiting factors here. My main back ups are from TRNP (Teone Reinthal Naturals), sinply because Teone reformulates things or stops making them. She finds some scents incomplete, or supplies dry up or change. I also have a couple of Guerlain back ups too. Second are easy to source scents I love and fear will be changed or cease production. Things like Paloma Picasso edp, Youth Dew, Arpege, No 19 edt etc. I no longer seek these in vintage form, as I love their modern version too, but fear reformulation...again. Last are the ones I use lots of, volume wise, and don't want to be without on a tight budget week. So, I buy them at super cheap prices when I see them and can afford them. Things like Chloe Nomade, La Vie Est Belle Eau Florale (now d/c) and Mon Guerlain. That way, I hope I will not be without access to that scent.

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members

...Oh, wow...! I had NO idea it wasn't just me getting the tail end of Zoka's whip. Thank you for providing this thread. It confirms a lot of things I have witnessed, and experienced, at Fragrantica. A few folk recommended Parfumo and I'm glad I am here. Such a different vibe going on. Even the quality of reviews is remarkably different.
