How much do opinions of influencers mean to you?

Perfume Discussions
... This may seem controversial, but these influences don't always hype or distort reality completely. There have been instances where these relatively shallow marketers were correct, and that's when you might think he is definitely on the payroll, particularly when they mention receiving a bottle but not how they did actually receive it more specifically (perhaps free bottle brigade giveaways?). You need to invest many hours watching content to learn and grasp each one of them, and in doing so, you will, to some degree, be able to see through their statements and personas. In my view, the reviews on Parfumo and other platforms have consistently held more significance, yet they can still mislead you just like any other YouTube influencer. For example, I blind bought "DesirToxic L'Intense | M. Micallef" mainly because I was eager for a blackcurrant and mint blend without vanilla in the formula. However, Angel from the channel Cubaknow rated it a 7.7, claiming it's not that impressive and that the original is superior, which he was correct about. One might argue that I should have listened his advice, right? It's always wise to sample, especially with niche, pricey fragrances (though I couldn't find a sample for the intense version at that time) Another example is with my recently purchased "Gris Charnel (Extrait) | bdk Parfums" . A friendly YouTuber named Daniel from Seldomly Often mentioned that he couldn't detect this fragrance at all, claiming it has zero projection. However, the truth is that BDK fragrances are quite airy and somewhat similar to Molecule fragrances, which can lead to anosmia. If he had tested it on a piece of fabric in a different room, for example, he would have grasped how it truly performs. The fragrance is actually quite potent. It's more complicated than it may appear at first glance; you should primarily rely on your nose and continuously sample, sample, sample. However, even samples can sometimes be tricky—there could be an issue with its content or the atomizer might not be spraying adequately. You can't fully engage in this hobby without encountering some mistakes along the way, that's for sure.

Perfume Recommendations
... For a fresher take I would say "Eros (Eau de Parfum) | Versace" or "Y (Eau de Parfum) | Yves Saint Laurent" or "Invictus Platinum | Rabanne" and if you are on a budget, then "Silver Scent Pure | Jacques Bogart". If you want sweet and for cold weather then "Invictus Victory Elixir | Rabanne" (but you need to like coconut) or "1 Million Parfum | Rabanne" (you need to like white floral). These are all mass appealing, designer scents. In my opinion, what could make one of these offensive is the amount you spray on combined with the temperature. In most places on earth now it's autumn, it's cold. But if you are in California at a rave party wearing "Invictus Victory Elixir | Rabanne" then it might not work out so well and the fresher ones would be a better choice.

Most Masculine Citrus Fragrance?
Marmot57
|
Perfume Recommendations
... For me the best citrus fragrance for men so far is "Dior Homme Sport (2021) | Dior". The beauty of this fragrance is that it's very masculine, it's classy and sporty at the same time. You can wear it with a suit, with a jacket, or even with a tracksuit. The other cool thing is that this is not just pure lemon, that can smell too sour or like cleaning product - for example "Eros Energy | Versace" and "Terre d'Hermès Eau Givrée | Hermès" smell too sour, like you would have squeezed a lemon on you. DHS holds the citrus for most of its life but it also has resins, the elemi and frankincense which make it very interesting from the beginning until the end. The base is made of these notes and it also gives it a very very good performance. I get around 8-10 hours out of it on skin with only spray 5-6 times (skin+clothes). You should definitely give it a try/sample it.

Sweet gourmands that smell clean

... I would say that "Gris Charnel (Extrait) | bdk Parfums" has a slight gourmand aspect to it because of the tea, fig and vanilla. It does have a slight earthy tone in the beginning because of the tea note and patchouli but it's also a clean scent as it is airy, French style. It's not something heavy like a Paco Rabanne or anything else that might feel very perfumy/cologney so to speak.

What's the fragrance that got you into this hobby?

Perfumes & Brands
... I would say for me it was "Encre Noire (Eau de Toilette) | Lalique" - however I like more the sport version, and I also get better performance with it. It was really challenging for me at first, of course, now it's easy to wear it but I also think it got reformulated some times by now.

... I just want to mention to be careful about "Gris Charnel (Extrait) | bdk Parfums" , better to test if before as it's highly contested with its performance, I've seen many saying that it's just does not project on some people at all. (SeldomlyOften, ATH etc.)

... If those designers were too strong for you, maybe niche is not the best option, most of them made for partying are quite strong. For example, I do not recommend "Tony Iommi Monkey Special | Xerjoff" - this is very sweet and can easily become cloying. You could try the new "Y Le Parfum (2025) | Yves Saint Laurent" as it's not as strong as the EDP and not as sweet as the original "Y Le Parfum (2021) | Yves Saint Laurent" but is more friendly and appealing than the more mature take which is "Y (Eau de Parfum Intense) | Yves Saint Laurent". If you really want niche, then "Hacivat | Nishane" the original one could be a good option as it's strong but not as sweet as others and has some freshness to it, but you need to test it and see if you like oakmoss as that is divisive.

Do Le Labo fragrances have to be refrigerated?
Marmot57
|
Perfumes & Brands
... From what I've read, as I was also thinking of preserving my fragrances in the best way possible, the only option would be a wine cooler. A wine cooler would keep the fragrance between 12-18 Celsius degrees which is the most optimal threshold for fragrances. Although I never understood how a wine cooler resolves the issue of moisture or dampness inside this of it. I know there are some fragrances which are made specifically for being refrigerated, such as "Cool Water Woman Freeze Me | Davidoff" but otherwise, if not officially stated, I would not go for it. I think all Youtubers keep their fragrances on shelves in some kind of basements, aren't they?

... A very cheap alternative to "Le Gemme - Tygar | Bvlgari" is "Théorème pour Homme | Rue Broca" . I have it, I tested it and it's really good not only for the price. Longevity is there, smell is good, projects well for the first 2 hours or so then it comes closer but you are going to have noticeable scent bubble around you. Of course, you also have to spray on the clothes. Also, a goo fresh long lasting fragrance is "Polo Deep Blue | Ralph Lauren" . It projects like 1.5 hours maybe 2 hours then will come closer to the skin. On clothes this lasts for days due to the musk in it! It's insane how long it stays on clothes but it's a parfum so don't expect to project a lot after the first hours of application.

... Probably the weather would be rather warm or hot in Mexico? If you still want to go for a sweet and intense fragrance my suggestion would "Joop! Homme Le Parfum | Joop!" - this has iris, praline and vanilla. It's sweet and it has very good performance. It's more for colder weather but this is very affordable $30-40 and like many say, if this was in a Chanel or Dior Bottle people would be craving for it more. It's LE PARFUM, not the others which are not that good. You should be able to find at discounters at least a 50ml of "The Most Wanted Parfum | Azzaro" - this is simple yet more unique, inviting and intoxicating. It is not as sweet as the previous one. Otherwise, you can always go for "Y (Eau de Parfum) | Yves Saint Laurent" which you should be able to find at around $60 from discounter a 60 ml. This is sweet and fresh apple with ginger and clary sage. Personally, I don't really like "9pm | Afnan Perfumes" I think "Ultra Mâle | Jean Paul Gaultier" is a lot better but this is also a very common scent. All dudes smell like this, at least in Europe. And I don't recommend "The One for Men (Eau de Parfum) | Dolce & Gabbana" for the same reason I cannot recommend any Sauvage, you will smell like her ex and all the other guys.

... Thanks for the suggestions 👍 I can enjoy a little bit of powder but not much, I am not a fan of very powdery fragrances. "Squid | Zoologist" is an interesting one, it has been recommended to me before but I need to find a tester or decant. This is now on my list, too. At the moment I am waiting for a tester for "Laudano Nero | Tiziana Terenzi" to arrive, so this is already on my list. I am looking for these very dark, depressing, church or death like fragrances. But I do not like things like "No Limit$ | Philipp Plein" "Guilty Absolute pour Homme | Gucci" or "Boss Bottled Elixir | Hugo Boss" - I don't want to stink or smell like a greasy mechanic. If you guys have other ideas please share them with me, even if they are not really fresh, thank you!

Perfume Recommendations
... Salutations, I am looking for a fresh-summer fragrance with good performance that is dark and mysterious. I have in mind something like "Encre Noire (Eau de Toilette) | Lalique" and "Encre Noire Sport | Lalique" , I already own and enjoy them but they are not as they used to be. It's okay if your suggestions go the same gothic / church / old library vibes, I like it like this. I also used to rock "Kenzo Homme (2022) (Eau de Parfum) | Kenzo" which is also a dark blue fragrance usable in summer but not high heat, It was too linear and I got bored with it. "Aventus | Creed" style or DNA does not work for me. I would prefer designer but I am also good with niche. The budget is 200 euro but I want something that is relatively easy to find in Europe. I want to be able to use it everywhere. I appreciate your help!
