Nice Try

Today we come to Cereus No. 6 pour Homme, the second of a total of five parts in my little planned series about this relatively unknown American brand.

After Cereus No. 4 pour Homme, I thought there might be a slight improvement. After all, No. 6 is a bit darker in the bottle and color and contains far more ingredients.

The text on my fragrance card says this time, in essence:
“The airy essence of classic Mediterranean style is infused with sliced fennel and green cardamom. The quiet seduction continues with a fascinating blend of exotic orchid and licorice root.
Gentle Haitian vetiver and a hint of amber give it an air of relaxed sensuality.”

Here, too, everyone is welcome to try a better translation.

But no matter how you turn and twist this - Cereus No. 6 pour Homme strongly reminds me of Terre d'Hermès. According to the listed fragrance notes, they only share the vetiver. The layman is astonished - and the expert wonders (so I am astonished), because I wouldn’t have derived that from it. But this experience is something everyone should make for themselves.

Perhaps No. 6 is also a bit quieter and softer than Terre d'Hermès, but the striking similarity is present. It is simply fresh, spicy, and woody and does not change over time.

So those who hoped for something exclusive here (like I did) will likely be disappointed. All others who want to surprise their counterpart with a mentioned alternative to Terre d'Hermès may find their luck here.

PS: I just tried to determine the fragrance classification. However, my inputs are not being considered at all. Something seems to be stuck...
