He Wood

Moss and silt
the forest floor,
breath from your body,
exhaled by your skin,
your hair,
so entirely you.

I find it
where my kisses live,
in the hollow
just below your ear,
it’s there in the space
just above your heart
like vapor
released by its beating.

When I leave you
For an hour or two
I take it with me
on my clothes
like mist on my flesh,
like fog in my hair.

When you leave me,
it stays behind,
on my clothes
my flesh,
my hair,
and in the memory
of your caress.
