I buy coffee in small batches, grind my own beans, and use a good drip brewer or a French press. I know I'm not a real coffee expert because I favor the slight charred edge of a dark roast, which the experts say is not the right way to treat good coffee beans. But, to me, part of the pleasure of coffee is the interplay between bitter and mellow in the beans, topped off with the creamy mild sweetness of (soy) creamer.
Perlier's Vanilla Coffee does have a good, true coffee smell that is more accurate and intense than many other scents with a coffee note. It's also quite long-lasting and affordable. Unfortunately, the coffee is swamped at times by the heavy sweet vanilla, which is similar to that used in the many Comptoir Sud Pacifique vanilla-based scents. It could really use something to break up all of that sweetness. But, if you like your coffee with a shot of vanilla syrup, you might consider this perfect!
