Once again, a wishlist fragrance has quite literally fallen into my hands (through a swap) and it has not disappointed me. I have not seen "1770" anywhere in German perfumeries, but thanks to Daniel, I can get to know it.
It is a very strong scent, boasting a lot of "wood in the cabin," with cedar, sandalwood, and other spicy representatives of this genre setting the tone. And yet, some flowers have managed to tread the "wooden path" and enrich the fragrance. A dark cocoa note also resonates. By no means sweet, but rather a deep brown and bitter, which pairs excellently with the distinctly noticeable vetiver.
A slightly peppery, echo-like dry down makes the entire arrangement super interesting.
I notice early on the foundation of earthy patchouli and soft forest moss.
Here I stand in a clearing at dusk, breathing in the resinous, mossy scent of the forest, which seems to come from the deepest depths. From damp, green, unfathomable depths.
And I would love to step into that. To linger long and discover all the secrets.
That the Brits are capable of composing classically durable fragrances with good "radiance" is proven with this top-class woodsy scent.
Unfortunately, I know far too few English perfumes, apart from some from the Miller Harris line and two or three from Bahoma and Pecksniff's.
(Not to mention the internationally well-known Penhaligon's fragrances.
But with this Yardley, I have a fragrance of the highest class at a very good price. Including the forest dreams with a mossy bed.

Refined like Gentleman Citrus and wood.
