Peau d'Orris Edition Gold 50° Wasif Reza 2025 Extrait de Parfum

One of those fragrances that inspire you to speak about it. To preach about it. And that is exactly what I am gonna do in this review. For my nose, this is the quintessential Orris fragrance out there. I do not “glaze” fragrances to this extent. I try to stay impartial. But this took me by surprise. Fully recommended for all orris lovers. For vintage French fragrance lovers. For artisanal lovers. For art of perfumery lovers. This is a special one.

Compared to the original Peau d’Orris, this version is denser, oilier, and more powerful. Sylhet oud runs through the entire composition, osmanthus is more prominent with animalic nuances, and the base is darker and more structured, with castoreum clearly noticeable.

The iris is more blended and less dominant, as is the oakmoss, which stays in the background. The result is a fragrance that feels full-bodied, bold, and practically indelible, with a stronger animalic edge.

As my brother Ott8 says Smelled blind, it could easily be mistaken for an Ensar Oud.
I already loved the original, but this one might go even further. Great work.

Unlike its normal version, Peau d'Orris , this version is significantly oilier, richer in Syhlet oud, which can be detected throughout the fragrance, much more osmanthus (with hints of civet) and the full-bodied base note (where I perceive castoreum more strongly) is definitely more present.
The iris is present but more blended into the mixture, less decisive and prominent than its counterpart. Oakmoss is also present, but less decisive and perceptible.
The higher concentration and quantity of certain notes has made it decidedly more full-bodied, bold and persistent (it is practically indelible) and also more animalic.
If someone were to smell it without knowing it was a Wasif, they would say it was an Ensar oud.
I really liked its younger brother, but this one is perhaps even better. A masterpiece.
Literally the brother on steroids.
