Beta-pinene belongs to the pinene group, which is a group of isomeric monoterpene hydrocarbons that are colourless liquids and components of the essential oils of many plants.
Beta-pinene is found together with alpha-pinene mainly in essential oils from conifers and black peppercorns, but also occurs in oils from other plants such as cannabis, dill, star anise, wormwood, eucalyptus and myrtle.
