Carrément beau, ce patchouli!
Today I received the tasting set from Carrément belle, beautifully packaged in a silver cardboard envelope, with a booklet describing the fragrance and a decal tattoo. Already wonderful!
The first of the 12 sample bottles I open is the premiere fragrance "Ippi Patchouli", created in 1988 as the first product in the range.
I immediately feel transported back to my youth, but with one big difference: this fragrance is multi-layered. The first impression was floral, followed by some strong coffee with aniseed, a strong, somewhat austere iris and ... what is that? - followed by a base of dark patchouli. The patchouli is intangible, because every time it comes into contact with the air I breathe on my skin, the flowers light up again. So don't sniff your wrist so often, but observe from a distance.
This is clearly a French fragrance, but it's as if it's saying: "stop with the chic fuss, the fashionable claim to superlatives, the ladylike conceit!"
A fragrance that wants to play, a fragrance to dress up, but grown-up and sophisticated. Wonderfully composed!
We now have more facets, we are older and more experienced, and yet: naturalness, pleasure and the joy of discovery are greater than ever before. Monosyllables, no thanks.
