Amyris is a tree that mainly grows on some West Indian islands. The oil of the balsam tree, as it is also called, has a scent character similar to sandalwood.
The opening of Oud Wood & Amyris is very woody and spicy, with thyme making its presence known, which I don't particularly like, but this scent impression is soon softened by a hint of bergamot.
After about 45 minutes, pepper joins in, still very subtle. Another 30 minutes later, the geranium, especially the rose geranium, slightly shifts the scent direction towards a floral-woody profile.
By the third hour, the rose geranium has retreated, and Oud Wood & Amyris becomes a beautiful spicy, woody, and warm fragrance characterized by a sandalwood note with pepper.
Oud Wood & Amyris is, in my opinion, a very masculine scent; I haven't found the titular oud in it. For those who love the scent of sandalwood, this is a good alternative.
The projection of Oud Wood & Amyris is very strong for the first two hours and only gradually becomes more subtle. The longevity is over 10 hours. Highly recommended for winter and autumn.
