A Curious Fragrance Experience

Unfortunately, Patchouli Noir (2021) did not really convince me. The problem is that the scent comes across as quite cumbersome and somewhat unpleasant during the first hours. Only towards the end does the fragrance become rather pleasant and nice. The longevity on my skin is 9 to 10 hours with a solid sillage.

The top note initially smells fresh and citrusy with bergamot for a few seconds. After that, a synthetic and musty animalic note emerges, which bothers me a lot. In the heart note, this mustiness does not get any better. I detect earthy, root-like, and oriental-spicy aromas of patchouli, driftwood, vetiver, oak moss, nutmeg, and allspice. Only the base note pleases me. Here it smells sweet, woody, creamy, and balsamic with tonka beans, brown rum, bourbon vanilla, almond milk, and cocoa.

Even though I am a fan of many fragrances from Aaron Terence Hughes, Patchouli Noir (2021) unfortunately did not captivate me. Nevertheless, I thank Nick for the sample.
