Whoever can pick out the individual notes in this fragrance deserves my Parfumo diploma!:-)! Wow..this scent really drives me crazy, I can test as much as I want and still feel like I haven't penetrated the true essence of the fragrance. Is it delicious or annoying, is it fresh or just floral, does it have something of Terre d'Hermes or not? I would love to dissect it further, decode it..but it somehow makes it really hard for me. Sure, Wiki says pelargoniums belong to the geranium family..oh yes, and they primarily occur in Africa..well then. Speaking of Africa..I feel like I'm in the Sahara without a compass.
But at least it would explain why it smells so floral over the Terre d'Hermes vibe.
According to Wiki, they are also said to contain essential oils, which in connection with the hediones would explain why the scent radiates, almost glows, Hedione is often associated with this effect, so airy-fresh. Over the flowers, there’s something zesty-fresh from the citrus world, for me most like a lime-lemon mix, reminiscent of a Sprite right after opening. But even that note is not clear to me, something else lingers in the air that reminds me of sage and disinfectant. Don't get me wrong, it smells quite good..but it drives me crazy not being able to read the scent. The middle part consists for me of a very fine Terre facet with a bit more cedarwood. I find it very homogeneous and fine, like a tightly woven carpet with no loose threads.
It develops increasingly creamier and finer, almost balsamic without having the final melt. Even after these lines, I'm somehow not any wiser..the scent remains a mystery to me..but also fascinating, it lures me in, but never fully opens the door for me..but maybe there's nothing to decode here at all..who knows?!
The longevity is excellent at 7-8 hours, the sillage is magnificent..the 100ml would probably last for years. Except in high summer, I would enjoy this scent in every season.
I also see it as perfectly suitable for all occasions, but leaning towards daytime.
So you geraniums..that's it for now..I'll keep at it;-)!!!
You do realize that your impressions have made me extremely curious, right?! This is such a typical candidate for my wishlist, but now it's going on and staying there, period! And I actually like that it resists being decoded (even if we don't like that) ;-))
Yes, you're absolutely right, breaking it down can sometimes be counterproductive; in this case, it helped to grasp the scent at all... I can't really make a judgment here.
