Sweet-Bitter Apple Strudel

Lao Gold from Agar Aura is another perfect example of a Laotian oud oil that can boost a mesmerizing scent profile with none of the harsh facets they have been associated with.

Lao Gold is possibly the number one oud oil I'd recommend to anyone looking to get into oud oils and don't want to spend big right off the gate. I think it is an amazing value. This oil is closer to the Sinensis profile, so you'll get a good amount of that green-honey-vanilla goodness.
It might just be the most gourmand oud oil I have experienced, overall. Some Hindi oils I've tried were even more gourmand at the top but changed direction later on. This one stays like that throughout. If I were to describe this oil's profile in two words, it would be "apple strudel". And no, it's not an attar, only wood. A highly resinous character, it opens up with an apple accord adorned with cinnamon and topped with vanilla. Few changes take place afterward. Some hay notes creep in, some honey. This oil stays more focused on the creamy vanilla than Pusong Qi, another Laotian oil similar in feel, the latter focusing more on the honey note. As it progresses, that green apple accord becomes less contoured and shifts to a mere green pastel-like chord, while the vanilla resinous chord holds its ground, pairing with a note of sweet hay. Thereon it continues on that vanilla-hay pairing with just the tiniest watery-green touch.

It's difficult not to love this oud oil, and I believe even the ones who start their oud journey would find great pleasure here, as they'll simultaneously experience a whole different dimension of Laotian Oud than the one they've been familiar with. A joyful oud oil radiating golden, yellow, light brown, and green colors.
